Portions Copyright (c) The GAP Development Company.
Description
~~~~~~~~~~~
Purge your GAP member file of old and unwanted MEMBER records. You
specify the number of days since the last date the user joined, and
this program deletes any MEMBER records that are older than that
number of days, if the forum is a public forum.
This program does not delete member records of private forums.
PURGEMM.EXE - Multi user version
PURGEMS.EXE - Single user version
Procedure
~~~~~~~~~
Place this program in your path, change to your GAP default directory
and run with the following command line parameter:
PURGEM<ms> XX
where 'XX' is the number of days since the last date a user must have
joined the forum in question.
Example:
PURGEM<ms> 90
This will delete any member records for users who have not joined a
forum for 90 or more days, if the forum is public.
Notes
~~~~~
The multi user version of this program may be used while your bbs is
online. This is a FULLY MULTI-USER program. You need not bring your
bbs nodes down while running this program.
This program uses C-TREE to delete the records in question. For this
reason, these records are not actually removed from the file at the
time this program is run. Any records deleted by this program will be
automaticaly reused by GAP or any other program that uses C-TREE to
access the member file, or will be purged from the member file the
next time the GAP Development utility GAPPACK.EXE is run on the member
file.
It is highly recomended (but not required) that you run GAPPACK.EXE
imediately following the execution of this program. To do this, your
bbs nodes must be offline!!! GAPPACK.EXE is NOT a multi-user program.
For full instructions on GAPPACK.EXE, refer to the GAP BBS Systems
Sysop's manual. To run GAPPACK.EXE on the member file, use the 'r'
command line parameter. For example:
GAPPACK <full path to member file>\MEMBER.DAT R
