  5.  1 - This echo is for general discussion of MIDI music, be it the listening
  6.      to or creating of it.  (Whether via keyboard, or through your
  7.      computer sound card.)  Discussions of MIDI sequencing software, MIDI
  8.      players, MIDI-related software/hardware and MIDI web sites are on
  9.      topic.  Discussions of sound cards is welcome, within the realm
  10.      of playing MIDI sequences through them.  Those with more experience
  11.      on the topic of MIDI are asked to offer help to those new to it.
  12.      Please, be patient with the newbies! :-)  Discussion of routine Fidonet
  13.      info or policies should be discussed elsewhere.

  15.      English is the language of this echo.

  17.  2 - Try to get along.  If someone posts something that gives you the urge
  18.      to flame them, walk away from the keyboard until that feeling passes.
  19.      If someone is being a PITA and flaming, let the moderator handle it,
  20.      please!

  22.  3 - Please use your real name when posting here.  If you aren't sure,
  23.      check your birth certificate.

  25.  4 - Avoid creating unneeded traffic.  Here's a list of basic "No-no's":

  27.   No: BBS ads, 'test' messages, "where are you from" chains, multiple
  28.       tearlines, replies to off-topic messages, encrypted messages, PGP
  29.       sigs, multiline sigs or taglines, playing moderator (unless you -are-
  30.       the moderator), additional headers/footers in messages, hi-ASCII ASCII
  31.       "artwork" (we really -don't- care to see it), uuencoded files, or
  32.       huge amounts of over-quoting. <whew!>

  34.       If a program (reader, tagline mgr, etc.) is adding a lot of extra
  35.       junk to messages, please don't use it here.  (The moderator will
  36.       decide what's "extra junk", and let you know.)

  38.       Again, large/multiline signatures are -greatly- unwelcome, as well
  39.       as listing every email account or FTN-type address you have.
  40.       Leave it out, please.  One -short- line is an "acceptable" signature.

  42.  5 - Please, limit quoting in your replies.  (If you're quoting more than
  43.      a couple lines, you're probably quoting too much.)  Never quote tag/
  44.      tear/origin lines.
  45.  
  46.  6 - "OS Bashing" is stupid, and not welcome here.  Don't do it.  Period.
  47.      This also means, leave your cutesy "OS put-down" tag/origin lines
  48.      out of this echo.  (Grow up, ok?)  This also applies to hardware.
  49.      No "my widget can beat up your widget" junk, please.
  50.      
  51.  7 - Rules of Common Courtesy apply at -all- times.  If you want to argue
  52.      with, or complain to someone, do it elsewhere.  Play nice!

  54.  8 - No file announcements are allowed, unless done or approved by the
  55.      moderator(s).  You may, however, help others find programs.  When
  56.      doing so, please include filenames, and what (if any) restrictions
  57.      you have on file requests.  In the case of files via HTTP or FTP,
  58.      include the URL (and directory if needed) of the file as well. (Please
  59.      note that the EarForce MIDI FDN -does- do announcements in this echo.)

  61.  9 - This echo may not be gated (in or out) to any other FTN-style network,
  62.      or the internet, without without prior permission of the moderator.
  63.      Authorized gates will be published in the ELIST*.* listing for this
  64.      echo.

  66. Changes will be made to this list as needed.  Your input is welcome via
  67. netmail.  (Arguing about moderator decisions/rules is not welcome in the
  68. echo... again, please use netmail.)
