  1. BBS_INTERNET - All-Platform BBS<->Internet Discussion

  5.  1 - This echo is for general discussion of cross-platform BBS<->Internet
  6.      applications for BBS Sysops.  This conference is meant to be a meeting
  7.      place for SysOps and developers to exchange helpful ideas and
  8.      discussion of different operating systems relating to connecting
  9.      their BBS system to the Internet. DOS-related discussions are on-topic,
  10.      but might be better served in the sister conference DOS_INTERNET,
  11.      especially if they concern more of an "end-user" product.  Those with
  12.      more experience are asked to offer help to those new to this topic.
  13.      Please, be patient with the newbies! :-)  Discussion of routine
  14.      Fidonet info or policies should be discussed elsewhere.

  16.      English is the language of this echo.

  18.  2 - Try to get along.  If someone posts something that gives you the urge
  19.      to flame them, walk away from the keyboard until that feeling passes.
  20.      If someone is being a PITA and flaming, let the moderator handle it,
  21.      please!

  23.  3 - This echo should be restricted to sysops (or soon to be sysops) only.
  24.      However, "interested parties" are allowed to participate.

  26.  4 - Please use your real name when posting here.  If you aren't sure,
  27.      check your birth certificate.

  29.  5 - Avoid creating unneeded traffic.  Here's a list of basic "No-no's":

  31.   No: BBS ads, 'test' messages, "where are you from" chains, multiple
  32.       tearlines, replies to off-topic messages, encrypted messages, PGP
  33.       sigs, multiline sigs or taglines, playing moderator (unless you -are-
  34.       the moderator), additional headers/footers in messages, hi-ASCII/ASCII
  35.       "artwork" (we really -don't- care to see it), uuencoded files, or
  36.       huge amounts of over-quoting. <whew!>
  37.  
  38.       If a program (reader, tagline mgr, etc.) is adding a lot of extra
  39.       junk to messages, please don't use it here.  (The moderator will
  40.       decide what's "extra junk", and let you know.)

  42.       Again, large/multiline signatures are -greatly- unwelcome, as well
  43.       as listing every email account or FTN-type address you have.
  44.       Leave it out, please.  One -short- line is an "acceptable" signature.

  46.  6 - Please, limit quoting in your replies.  (If you're quoting more than
  47.      a couple lines, you're probably quoting too much.)  Never quote tag/
  48.      tear/origin lines.
  49.  
  50.  7 - "OS Bashing" is stupid, and not welcome here.  Don't do it.  Period.
  51.      This also means, leave your cutesy "OS put-down" tag/origin lines
  52.      out of this echo.  (Grow up, ok?)

  54.  8 - Rules of Common Courtesy apply at -all- times.  If you want to argue
  55.      with, or complain to someone, do it elsewhere.  Play nice!

  57.  9 - File announcements are allowed by authors of utilities directly
  58.      related to the topic of this echo.  You are also encouraged to help
  59.      others find programs they may need.  When doing so, please include
  60.      filenames, and what (if any) restrictions you have on file requests.
  61.      In the case of files via HTTP or FTP, *try* to include the URL (and
  62.      directory if needed) of the file as well.
  63.      
  64. 10 - This echo may not be gated (in or out) to any other FTN-style network,
  65.      or the internet, without without prior permission of the moderator.
  66.      Authorized gates will be published in the ELIST*.* listing for this
  67.      echo.
