Keno V1.0
(c) Copyright 1993, All Rights Reserved
INTRODUCTION
~~~~~~~~~~~~
DSD Keno is a BBS door for IBM, RemoteAccess Compatible BBS systems.
With DSD Keno users will be able to wager their online time on
games of Keno, and compete with other users for the top scores.
DSD Keno is Multi-Node aware (as long as SHARE.EXE is loaded) and
requires a FOSSIL communication driver for easy COMM port handling.
DISCLAIMER
~~~~~~~~~~
USE OF DSD KENO IS ENTIRELY AT YOUR OWN RISK. DOMINION SOFTWARE
DESIGNERS WILL NOT BE HELD RESPONSIBLE FOR ANY LOSS OR DAMAGE TO HARDWARE
OR SOFTWARE CAUSED BY OUR SOFTWARE.
With that said, we have endeavoured to ensure that our software works as
well as it can with testing both on our BBS and those of our Beta testers.
If however you do find any bugs, or problems with the software please
notify us so as we may fix the problem.
SHAREWARE
~~~~~~~~~
DSD Keno is shareware and we ask that you pay a small fee for
the software. As an incentive to encourage you to register there are
certain REGISTERED features in the software. Please read the section
on registering advantages later.
The Unregistered version of DSD Keno may be freely distributed (and
please do!), as long as all the files, (including this documentation) are
unaltered and kept together.
REQUIREMENTS
~~~~~~~~~~~~
To run DSD Keno you will require -
IBM / MS-DOS compatible computer.
RemoteAccess or compatible BBS software that creates the DORINFO and
EXITINFO type bbs drop files.
FOSSIL communication driver of some kind, (e.g. BNU by David Nugent)
SHARE.EXE loaded in your system (for multi-line use).
SETTING UP
~~~~~~~~~~
DSD Keno is rather easy to set up.
Firstly it is recommended you place the contents of the DSD Keno
archive in their own directory (DSD-KENO.EXE, DSD-KENO.DOC, DSD-KENO.CFG).
Secondly you will need to edit the DSD-KENO.CFG file to your own need.
The .CFG file is a text file with each configuration item consisting
of 1 line of text. Each line of text has the form :-
KEYWORD parameter
The description of all the KEYWORDS and parameters are contained in the
sample config file (DSD-KENO.CFG), you should read through that now, and
edit the paramaters to suit your system.
Once you have edited your config files you will then need to set up
your BBS program to run DSD Keno.
This can be done easily in RemoteAccess using a Type 7 door exit
like this
*C *M /C DSD-KENO.EXE
Nothing more is required on a simple system.
SETTING UP FOR MULTI-NODE / MULTI-GAME
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
If you are running a Multi-Node BBS system, or you wish to run multiple
games of DSD Keno (with different betting levels, etc) then all that
is required is that you edit multiple .CFG files and when you run DSD
Keno you specify which config file to use.
For a Multi-Node System make a copy of the .CFG file, one for each node.
Edit the DORINFO/EXITINFO paths in each file to go to each directory of
your BBS. For example, here are the first two lines of my config files.
DSD-KENO.001
DORINFO_FILE C:\BBS\NODE1\DORINFO1.DEF
EXITINFO_FILE C:\BBS\NODE1\EXITINFO.BBS
DSD-KENO.002
DORINFO_FILE C:\BBS\NODE2\DORINFO1.DEF
EXITINFO_FILE C:\BBS\NODE2\EXITINFO.BBS
etc, then when it comes to running DSD Keno from the BBS I tell
it which data file to use,
DSD-KENO.EXE <config file>
e.g. for line 2 - DSD-KENO.EXE DSD-KENO.002
To set up multiple games, do the same as above, but this time change the
Datafile Path, Scorefiles, and any of the MIN/MAX settings. When you
change between the 2 config files, users will be playing 2 different games.
SYSOP KEYS
~~~~~~~~~~
DSD Keno supports some special sysop keys, those being
ALT-K - Kick User out of DSD Keno.
ALT-C - Chat with the user.
Up Arrow - Increase users time by 1 minute.
Down Arrow - Decrease users time by 1 minute.
Left Arrow - Decrease users time by 10 minutes.
Right Aroww - Increase users time by 10 minutes.
KENO
~~~~
The instructions on how to play Keno are contained in the game. I
have tried to follow the rules of my local Casino closely.
There are 3 different Keno styles to chose from, each with a slightly
different twist to them, Wild Balls, Extra Balls, all with different
Odds.
REGISTERING ADVANTAGES
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
If you register DSD Keno the word UNREGISTERED will be replaced
with your BBS name in many positions throughout the game. Your players
will not also be restricted to 20 games per session in the door, so they
can play un-interupted for as long as they like and accumulate higher scores
or higher losses! You will also notice that after your users have played
250 hands in one day, they will no longer be disallowed to play DSD Keno.
Another advantage to registering DSD Keno is that it is part of
The Dominion Casino. That means that by registering DSD Keno, not
only will your KEYFILE work with all future versions of DSD Keno it
will work with all future versions of Dominion Casino doors. DSD Black
Jack and DSD Poker already exist and I am also planning others.
To register DSD Keno read the REGISTER.FRM for all the information.
