ANIMAL_RIGHTS RULES & GENERAL GUIDELINES (Rev. 02-02-92)
PURPOSE: The purpose of the ANIMAL_RIGHTS conference is to educate
and to be a forum for the exchange of ALL viewpoints and
opinions on the issue of animal rights as well as suggesting
ways to get involved with the animal rights movement.
Animal rights is not only about medical research, but it
also encompasses animal cruelty and exploitation from the
clothing industry to the entertainment field to the pet
trade, and discussions regarding all aspects of animal
rights should take place. All sides of this emotional
issue need to be represented, so all users, whether pro
or con on the animal rights issue should feel free to
express their opinions.
RULES: The rules for this conference are simple and few. They
are also non-negotiable.
1) Stay on the topic of animal rights. All viewpoints
and opinions are welcome.
2) You may get angry about the issues discussed, but
don't direct that anger towards each other. The issue
of animal rights is an emotional one, so it follows
that emotions will run high, but respect for each
other's opinion is vital to any intelligent and
rational discussion. Be sensitive to the fact that
your message, devoid of facial expressions, tone of
voice and body language, are the total representation
of your thoughts and opinions, and as such are open to
misinterpretation. Common courtesy towards each other
is expected, and please be advised that flaming will
not be tolerated.
3) Keep your quoting to the minimum necessary to establish
the context of your reply. Unnecessary quoting tends to
make the telephone company richer and sysops poorer.
4) Real names are to be used in this conference.
COMPLAINTS: Any complaints should be sent to the Echo Moderator via
NET MAIL. Any complaint sent in the echo itself, either to
the Echo Moderator or to the offending party, will be
considered as off-topic. The Echo Moderator will be
responsible for initiating any disciplinary action against
those who consistently ignore and break the conference
rules. Three warnings will be given prior to any sanction
against a caller. If the warnings fail to resolve the
problem, the Echo Moderator will contact the sysop of the
system the abusing caller is using and request that the
caller's access be removed. Should this fail, standard
FIDO procedures will be followed to stop the BBS from
receiving the ANIMAl_RIGHTS echo.
Note: Should any caller not have access to NETMAIL, the
Echo Moderator can be contacted by calling his BBS
at 405-482-2536. Access to the board is granted on
the first call.
PRECEDENCE: Should any item detailed in these rules be found to
conflict with existing FIDONET policy, please submit the
documentation to the Echo Moderator at 1:19/10.
ECHO MODERATOR: Mike Adams (1:19/10)
Co-Moderator: Kathleen Weaver (1:124/3104)
