CP-Conf4.10
Conference Area Manager
For WildCat 4.xx->
Preface:
────────
CP-Conf4 was designed to provide easy management of the conference areas
within WildCat v4.01 and up. In order to maintain a given structure
within your conference areas, you either have to leave X number of blank
areas, or simply add them to the end. Although WildCat provides a
"sorted" listing if you will, it's on an alphabetic sort, which means
you need to name your areas accordingly. I prefer to name them however
I want, but still put my structure in place. CP-Conf4 will allow you to
move your areas around in any order you choose!
Preparation:
────────────
MAKE BACKUPS! This can't be stressed enough. Files that will be
altered are as listed in the enclosed file: FILES.LST
Usage:
──────
Once you've made the suggested backups, you're ready to begin moving
file areas! Place CP-CONF4.EXE anywhere you like, as long as it's
located in the PATH statement, or you call it direct, CP-Conf4 will
function. When you start CP-Conf4, it will search for the WCHOME
environment variable, and if in use, will prompt you to confirm the
information. If WCHOME isn't found, then a search will take place for
key WildCat files in order to determine the WildCat Home directory, and
if located, will again prompt you for confirmation. If neither is
found, you will be prompted for input. Okay, now that we`ve told CP-
Conf4 where the WildCat Home directory is, the file area information
will be loaded into memory and placed in a menu.
Next you will be prompted for an AREAS.BBS path. If you don't plan to
update this file, for whatever reason, just press the [ENTER] key on the
empty line. If you do give a path, it will ensure the AREAS.BBS file
does in fact exist in that location.
Two other paths can be given also, which will allow for the processing
of specific files to those programs. wcECHO and wcGATE.
Once you have entered the paths, press CTL ENTER and the menu of your
areas will be created.
Now comes the easy part: TAG, MOVE, PROCESS. You can also DELETE and
CLEAR if you like. More on this later.
TAG:
Using the cursor (arrow) keys, move the highlight bar to the area
you wish to move and press the [SPACE BAR]. As you TAG each area,
you'll see a number placed in the ( ) field. This tells you the
order in which you selected an area, as well as the order in which
it will be moved. Pressing the [SPACE BAR] on an already TAGGED
area will remove it from the TAGGED list, subsequently renumbering
the TAG order of the remaining areas.
MOVE:
After selecting one or more areas, move the highlight bar to where
you want to insert the TAGGED areas. The TAGGED areas will be
inserted after the insertion point. Press ALT I and the menu will
be updated with your changes.
PROCESS:
Once you have moved all the areas to your liking, press F10 and the
changes will be applied to your WildCat datafiles. At the
beginning, most of the datafiles will be updated with temporary
files. When the actual file-by-file renumber process has
successfully completed, then the temporary files will become
permanent.
DELETE & CLEAR:
There are two other possible options you can use. If you have an
area you want to delete, press ALT D and an *D will be placed in
the ( ) noting deletion request. The only difference between
DELETING & CLEARING is that the cleared conference area slot is
not removed from the conference area configuration. Press ALT C to
clear an area.
