Only the top 21 lines are used in the config file. If you wish to place notes
after these lines, you can. It is important that all 21 lines be configured.
If you do not get the Usenet newsgroups, you must still configure a directory
for it even if it is C:\DONTWANT or whatever. Use this one as an example, that
is why I have commented it very well to ease your installation/setup. What
you see here is what I am running on my system, TRENDS!.
1st Line = What type of motherboard do you run the dish on?
You have 12 characters to place your motherboard information in. This line is
used for the report screens. With 12 characters, it should suit most
motherboards such as; 486-DX40, 486-SLC66, Pentium 100, etc...
2nd Line = What type of environment does this computer run in?
You have 12 characters to place your environment information in. This line
is used for the report screens. With 12 characters, it should suit most
setups such as; DOS, DESQview, Windows, OS/2 etc...
3rd Line = What type of dish do you have?
You have 24 characters to place your dish type information in. This line is
used for the report screens. With 24 characters, it should suit most of the
dish types such as; 3' Ku, 7' C-Band, 12' Monster, etc...
4th Line = What city and state do you live in?
You have 24 characters to place your city and state information in. This line
is used for the report screens. With 24 characters, it should suit most site
locations such as; Sumner, WA / Newport, TN / In Really North Alaska!, etc...
5th Line = Filelist - Where do you keep your UPLD.LST & SECURE.LST files?
This is where you keep your UPLD.LST and your SECURE.LST files. By default,
I believe they will be going to x:\SKYDATA\SKYINFO in the ACONFIG.SKY file.
If you have changed this, then point this line to where you keep them.
6th Line = Incoming - Where is your incoming data holding directory?
This is where you are storing all of your incoming data stream to. Some of you
will be used to running other system processors where you are defining each
rulebase to it's own directory, if so, you will be changing if you wish to use
Check PC. This may be fine with programs like Skymail, PCFU, or other
programs, but not with Check PC. Check PC is fast and it probably can be
attributed in part to not having to check directories everywhere since we
don't really care where the incoming data lands, we are concerned with where
we place them AFTER we check them for dupes. :) If you choose to use separate
directories for your incoming data, then I don't think Check PC is for you.
Only you can decide if you will go this route. For a peace of mind, it works
this way and you will be happy you did it. <g>
7th Line = FidoNet - Where do you want the FidoNet mail moved to?
This is where you want all the FidoNet mail bundles to be moved to. You can
have them moved to your mailer's inbound directory if you want. On my system,
I move them to a temporary directory, then I have another utility move them
3 bundles at a time, sort them, then have my tosser import them.
8th Line = FileBone - Where do you want the 'Files' moved to?
This is where you want all of the FileBone distribution files to be moved to.
You can have them moved to your .TIC processor's inbound directory if you want.
On my system, I move them to a temporary directory, then I have another utility
move them in pairs to the .TIC processor's inbound directory. By default, if
the file being checked is not in the list of mail and other type files that are
listed in the CHKPC.CFG file, then it will be treated as if it were a file from
the FileBone and not be treated as a mail bundle.
9th Line = Usenet - Where do you want the 'Bags' moved to?
This is where you want all the Usenet newsgroups moved to. Most commonly
referred to as 'Bag' files. I have given this a separate directory so that
you can move these to your newsgroup tosser's inbound directory. I did
this so you don't have to have batch files do it since the PCUSENET.xxx files
can be numerous in a day where the .QWK and other networks usually only have
a couple of files a day and we can let our batch files take care of those.
10th Line = Rime - Where do you want the Rime mail moved to?
This is where you want the Rime mail moved to. This line tells Check PC
where to move them to (your Rime tosser's inbound directory?). You should
also make sure to put a Y in Line #10 on the CHKPC.CFG file so that your
missed file report and pass percentage calculations will be accurate.
11th Line = Other - Where do you want all 'Others' moved to?
This is where you want all the other nets and specialty files to be moved to.
Here is where you will inform Check PC on where to place the INTELEC.QW?,
TVLIST*.*, and other miscellaneous files. The following are the 'BASE' names
that Check PC is looking for;
Miscellaneous : WEATHMAP, SATELITE, RADAR, SHOW, USATODAY, TVLIST
Other Networks: CRS, ROSE, PCUSENET, MAJORNET, INTELEC, LEDGE,
GLOBALNK, WGAMAIL, FRENCH, HCNMAIL, CONNECT, ILINK,
FMLYNET, FISHNET, WILDNET, SAFMAIL, SOM, WLA
If other networks get added to the Planet Connect feed, then I will add them
to this list and the internal checks within Check PC. If I have a 'BASE' name
spelled wrong, then please contact me so that I can fix it.
12th Line = Log File - Where do you want the CHKPC.LOG file sent to?
This is where you want your CHKPC.LOG to be generated at. You can use this
line to tell Check PC where to send the LOG file. This can be useful if
you want to send all LOG reports to a special directory. By using this
switch, you don't need to account for it in a batch file since instead of
moving to a log directory, just tell Check PC where you want it now.
13th Line = Not/XXX - Where do you want the CHKPC.NOT/XXX files sent to?
This is where you want your CHKPC.NOT and CHKPC.xxx (day files) to be
sent to. This is important here. I prefer to keep them in the same
directory as the rest of the Check PC files, but you can change this
if you wish with this line. You may want to keep each day's pass reports
into a special directory such as D:\CHKPC\DAYFILES. Then if you wanted
to look up your stats over a period of time, this directory would have
them all. I added it by request at the same time that the LOG file
location was requested. I think that in the future, this could be a
useful technique since another utility I am writing will take each of
those day files and read them, calculate some totals, and make an output
report on the system reliability. So it is here if you wish to make use
of it now.
14th Line = Where to place the EXCLUDE files if you are moving them
instead of deleting them.
15th Line = Are you MOVING the exclude files? Place a Y on this line to
have Check "MOVE" the excluded files to another directory. If anything
but a Y in here, then deleting of the excluded will be the default.
16th Line = Are you moving any incoming data to another drive? If so, then
place a Y in this line. This line will allow those who wish to move the
incoming data to another drive to be able to. This is useful for those
running under a LAN system or those who are running DESQview and what their
processed files moved to DRIVE C: when they actually were received in DRIVE D:.
17th Line = Are you receiving the Usenet newsgroups?
If you are receiving the PCUSENET.xxx (Bag) files, then you should place a
Y on this line. What it does is reads your SECURE.LST file to check against
the missed files for each pass. Without a Y here when you really are
receiving the Bag files, the calculation of your percentage of received files
and what Bags you have not received on each pass will not be correct. All
others should just place an N on this line.
18th Line = Are you receiving the Rime mail bundles?
If you are receiving the Rime mail bundles, then you should place a Y on this
line. What it does is reads your SECURE.LST file to check against the missed
files for each pass. Without a Y here when you really are receiving the Rime
mail bundles, the calculation of your percentage of received files and what
Rime files you have not received on each pass will not be correct. All others
should just place an N on this line.
19th Line = Are you receiving the Weather files?
This line is a switch to let Check PC know if you are to receive the
WEATHMAP.ARC, SHOW.EXE, SATELITE.ARC, and RADAR.ARC files. If you are
receiving them, the place a Y here for proper report calculations.
20th Line = Are you receiving the USA Today newspaper?
This line is a switch to let Check PC know if you are to receive the
USA Today newspaper. If you are receiving it, then place a Y here for
proper report calculations.
21st Line = Are you receiving the SPORTS Files? This is a future addition.
Should you be using Check PC before the next version, Version 1.00 RELEASE!,
and the sport files start getting tossed into their own rulebase, or are in
the secure.lst, then set this to yes.
