  2. There are two classes of "Doctor" systems, both of which are described below:
  3.  
  4. The multi-system "Doctor" gives the ability to play cartridge games from floppy
  5. disk to as many video game consoles as possible.  Typically, the following game
  6. consoles are supported:  (all by one "Doctor")
  7.  
  8.         Mega Drive              Genesis
  9.         PC-Engine
  10.         Supergrafx
  11.         Super Famicom           SNES
  12.         Game Boy
  13.         Game Gear
  14.  
  15. The Turbografx-16 is NOT supported by rampack-based copiers at this time.

  17. The user copies a video game cartridge by inserting it into the copier.  The
  18. machine then writes out the game onto a 3 1/2" floppy.  8 megabit games will
  19. require a 1.44 megabyte HD disk, but smaller games (up to 4 megs) can be put
  20. on a 720 kilobyte DS disk.

  22. Disks are standard MS-DOS disks and games are stored as DOS files, readable
  23. with any MS-DOS compatible computer equipped with the right floppy drive...
  24. To play a game from disk, the disk is inserted into the unit, along with the
  25. RAMPACK.  Think of the RAMPACK as a blank cartridge.  The machine loads that
  26. disk into the RAMPACK which then mates with the appropriate adapter, so that
  27. it may be inserted into the matching video game console.

  29. The RAMPACK is equipped with a 256 kilobit save circuit and save games for
  30. both the Mega Drive (Genesis), and the Super Famicom (SNES) are supported.

  32. The user needs to supply his or her own 9V (~1 A) AC-to-DC adapter.  The
  33. one that comes with the above video game systems will work.  You can get
  34. one at Radio Shack for less than $10.

  36. I am charging $850 for a multi-system Doctor, or $800 each for 2 or more.
  37. Shipping is extra ($10 for delivery in continental US.)  Checks require 2
  38. weeks to clear - please be patient!  Orders paid by a money order(s) will
  39. be processed immediately.  Delivery typically takes ONE week.  Will deli-
  40. ver to your home within the greater Bay Area.

  52.         separately for $50 each.  Please inquire about availability...

  54. Also, please NOTE that Doctor systems from me come with factory warranties.
  55. (1 year)  However, the customer is required to pay for shipping back to the
  56. authorized repair facility.  I don't know of any import house that provides
  57. warranty service on their "grey" goods.

  59. The one-system "Doctor" in general is just as functional as a full-blown
  60. multi-system "Doctor," albeit for ONE system only.  The following videos
  61. are supported:  (one system per Doctor, please specify when ordering)

  63.         Mega Drive              Genesis         (same unit)
  64.         PC-Engine
  65.  
  66. Don't expect to get all the features of a multi-system Doctor, however.
  67. For example, whereas the multi-system Doctor is equipped with a 1.44 megabyte
  68. 3 1/2" floppy drive, the one-system Doctor comes with a 720 kilobyte DS flop-
  69. py drive.  8 megabit games require 2 disks and you swap disks when prompted.

  71. Works the same way as described above, except no RAMPACK is used.  Instead,
  72. the main unit attaches right to the video game console.  Otherwise, the two
  73. types of Doctors are equivalent.

  75. I charge $550 for a one-system Doctor, or $500 each for two or more.  As
  76. before, shipping is $10 for delivery throughout the continental US.  The
  77. previous information applies regarding payment by check and delivery.

  79. I also import Mega Drive cartridges.  Price will not exceed $35 for each title.
  80. Shipping is $3 and includes first class postage and a padded envelope.
