  20. DESCRIPTION --------------------------------------------------------
  21. KIDSCON ver 5.0 (Kids Concentration) is a game that is based on the
  22. old game of Concentration.  This program was designed with kids in
  23. mind to help them develop their concentration skills, hand-eye
  24. coordination (via the mouse), while learning about the alphabet,
  25. numbers, and colors. The program contains five different matching
  26. games for variety, each supporting three levels of difficulty.  A
  27. pleasant female voice is used throughout, along with actual animal
  28. sounds, and other sound effects.

  30. PREVIOUS INSTALLATION ----------------------------------------------
  31. If you have a previously installed version of KIDSCON, (ver 4.1 or
  32. lower), you should delete all the previous installed files before
  33. you install this new version. You can do this by deleting the
  34. KIDSCON directory which will delete all files contained within the
  35. directory (KIDSCON.EXE, README.TXT, and all 82 KC_?????.WAV files),
  36. as they are no longer required.

  38. If you have registered a previous version, you DO NOT have to
  39. register again.

  41. INSTALLING KIDSCON ------------------------------------------------- 
  42. There are two self extracting files, KC_DISK1.EXE and KC_DISK2.EXE
  43.  
  44. KC_DISK1.EXE extracts   SETUP.EXE       VBRUN300.DL_    KIDSCON.EX_     
  45. (10 files)              SETUP.LST       DDEML.DL_       THREED.VB_
  46.             SETUP1.EX_      VER.DL_         KC_ALP.VB_
  47.             SETUPKIT.DL_
  48.  
  49. KC_DISK2.EXE extracts   KC_MAT.VB_      KC_PRO.VB_      README.TX_
  50. (5 files)               KC_NUM.VB_      KC_MNU.SN_

  52. There are two methods available for installation: 
  53.  
  54. TO CREATE INSTALL DISKETTES, preferred method:(via the File Manager)
  55.  
  56. 1-You will need two 3.5", 1.44 mb, preformatted diskettes.
  57. 2-Label the 1st diskette as "KIDSCON, ver 5.0, Disk1", and the 2nd
  58.   diskette as "KIDSCON, ver 5.0, Disk2".
  59. 3-Insert the 1st diskette. Select the directory where KC_DISK1.EXE
  60.   exist.  Select the File menu, and choose Run.  Type at the command
  61.   line "KC_DISK1 A:\" and click OK.  This will create the 1st
  62.   installation diskette.
  63. 4-Insert the 2nd diskette. Select the directory where KC_DISK2.EXE
  64.   exist.  Select the File menu, and choose Run.  Type at the command
  65.   line "KC_DISK2 A:\" and click OK.  This will create the 2nd
  66.   installation diskette.
  67. 5-To install the KidsCon program, exit the File Manager, insert
  68.   disk 1 in drive A:. From the Program Manager, select the File menu
  69.   and choose Run.  Type "A:\SETUP" at the command line and click OK,
  70.   then follow the setup instructions provided.
  71. 6-After you have successfully installed the KIDSCON program from the
  72.   setup diskettes that were created, you should delete KIDSCONP.EXE,
  73.   KC_DISK1.EXE, KC_DISK2.EXE, and INSTALL.TXT, from your hard drive,
  74.   as they are no longer required.

  76. TO INSTALL DIRECTLY FROM THE HARD DISK:(via the File Manager)
  77.  
  78. 1-Create a working directory called KCTEMP and move KIDSCONP.EXE,
  79.   KC_DISK1.EXE, KC_DISK2.EXE, and INSTALL.TXT to this directory.
  80. 2-Double-click on KC_DISK1.EXE.  Windows will go to DOS to extract
  81.   the 10 files as listed above.  When you return back to the File
  82.   Manager, Click on the drive icon where the KCTEMP directory exist
  83.   to update the file listing. 
  84. 3-Double-click on KC_DISK2.EXE.  Windows will go to DOS to extract
  85.   the 5 files as listed above.  When you return back to the File
  86.   Manager, Click on the drive icon where the KCTEMP directory exist
  87.   to update the file listing. 
  88. 4-To install the KidsCon program, double-click on "SETUP.EXE", and
  89.   then follow the instructions provided.  
  90. 5-After you have successfully installed the KIDSCON program, you
  91.   should delete all the files in the working directory.  You can do
  92.   this by deleting the KCTEMP directory which will delete all the
  93.   files contained within this directory (KIDSCONP.EXE, KC_DISK1.EXE,
  94.   KC_DISK2.EXE, INSTALL.TXT, and all the files extracted from
  95.   KC_DISK1.EXE and KC_DISK2.EXE, as listed above), as they are no
  96.   longer required.

  108. VBRUN300.DLL and THREED.VBX will be installed in your \windows
  109. \system directory if they do not exist, or if the existing installed
  110. files are not current versions.  All other files are installed in
  111. the selected installation directory.

  113. SYSTEM REQUIREMENTS ------------------------------------------------
  114. 386 or better PC
  115. 4 meg RAM or better
  116. Microsoft Windows 3.1 and a mouse
  117. VGA or SVGA monitor
  118. soundcard recommended (such as Sound Blaster or compatible)
  119. 2.5 meg of free disk space for program files 
  120.  
  121. UNINSTALLING KIDSCON -----------------------------------------------
  122. Delete the program KIDSCON.EXE and support files KC_MAT.VBX,
  123. KC_ALP.VBX, KC_NUM.VBX, KC_PRO.VBX, KC_MNU.SND, and README.TXT.  You
  124. can do this by deleting the KIDSCON directory which will delete all
  125. files contained within the directory. DO NOT delete VBRUN300.DLL and
  126. THREED.VBX from your windows\system directory, as these may be used
  127. by other applications you have installed.
