Intergalactic Space Dynasty
---------------------------
Space Dynasty 3.02 can be setup to allow you to interface with games on
other boards. Each BBS is set up as a separate "galaxy", as communication
and transport to other galaxies takes considerably longer than in your
own galaxy/game. At the end of your regular turns, if the game is set up
to talk to other boards, you will be asked if you would like to perform
intergalactic actions. You will then be allowed up to four intergalactic
turns. There are currently four intergalactic actions: <1> send message,
<2> intergalactic trade, <3> intergalactic raid, and <4> launch probe.
All intergalactic actions are posted on WWIVNet at midnight. How long
they take after that depends on how many hops away each galaxy is from you.
If you are playing with boards that are directly connected, things will
move swiftly. If you are playing with a lot of long distance boards,
things will slow down.
Options
-------
<1> Send message - This allows you to send messages to people in other
galaxies. Messages will not reach the other galaxy until the next day at
the earliest.
<2> Intergalactic trade - This allows you to send food, troops, or credits
to players in other galaxies. Your galaxy has a pool of intergalactic
transports which are used much like carriers to transport things. Each
player can use as many as half of the carriers in the pool. If there are
not enough intergalactic transports for what you wish to send, you will
have to donate your own carriers to the transport company.
Note that, if you donate your carriers, you do NOT get them back. This puts
a larger burden on players who can afford to do stuff like this regularly.
Like messages, trade items will reach their destination the next day at the
earliest. Transports remain at the destination galaxy until needed there, so
if a galaxy gets a lot of imports, it will be easy for them to do a lot of
exporting.
<3> Intergalactic raid - Attack players on other boards. Be warned that,
when you send away your troops and fighters, they are GONE and will NOT be
available to defend you for at least several days. An attack force will
take at least one day to reach their destination, and then the survivors
will take at least one day to get back to you. The survivors will bring
back spoils from their victory if they won, otherwise they will return empty
handed, and you will know they lost. You cannot capture planets on other
boards; you can take planets away from your enemies, and return with money
from these planets. It would be pretty ridiculous to be dragging planets
back and forth in intergalactic space.
<4> Launch probe - This is the intergalactic equivalent of spying. After
you launch a probe, it will take a minimum of one day to reach its destination.
The response you receive from the probe will then take a minimum of another
whole day to get back to you. The probe response will be one of three things:
(a) Probe detected by enemy and destroyed. The dynasty you tried to spy
on gets a message that you tried to spy on him.
(b) Probe disappears in deep space.
(c) Success: reports on numbers of enemy troops and defense stations.
