Life continues to be difficult for the animals although the
pigs seem to be very comfortable.
Boxer still tries to work his hardest but finally collapses.
The pigs send him to the village for 'treatment' but Benjamin
notices that he is taken away in the knacker's van.
A short time later his tragic death is announced.
At this time the pigs somehow acquire the money to buy a case
of whiskey.
Years pass.
The farm is more prosperous and better organised now although
for the majority of animals life goes on the same.

The pigs take to walking on their hind legs and carrying a
whip. The Seven Commandments have finally been altered to read:
ALL ANIMALS ARE EQUAL
BUT SOME ANIMALS ARE MORE
EQUAL THAN OTHERS
The novel concludes with the pigs mingling freely with the
humans they once despised. The other animals watch this strange
scene and are unable to tell the difference between pigs and
men.
