I%* CAKE MIX:
I%1 1/2, cup, sugar
I%1/2, cup, shortening
I%2, large, eggs
I%3, T., cocoa mix, Nestle's Quik recommended
I%2, oz, red food coloring
I%2 1/2, cups, flour, sifted 3 times
I%1, tsp, salt
I%1, cup, buttermilk
I%1, tsp, vanilla
I%1, T., white vinegar
I%1, tsp, baking soda

I%* FROSTING:
I%1/4, lb, margarine
I%1/2, cup, shortening
I%1, cup, sugar
I%3, T., flour
I%2/3, cup, milk, (cold)

R% Cream the first 5 ingredients of the cake mix together (sugar,
R%shortening, eggs, cocoa mix, and food coloring). Mix together
R%with 2 1/2 cups regular flour, sifted 3 times and measured, 1
R%tsp salt and add alternately with 1 cup buttermilk and 1 tsp
R%vanilla.

R% Mix in by hand 1 T. white vinegar and 1 tsp. baking soda.

R% Bake 25 to 30 minutes at 325 degrees using three 8" round pans.

R% FROSTING:

R% Cream together 1/4 lb. margarine and 1/2 cup shortening. Add 1
R%cup granulated sugar, slowly. Add 3 T., flour, one at a time. Add
R%2/3 cup cold milk and 1 tsp. vanilla. Whip hard in mixer.
