ABOUT SWEEPMEM
--------------
The Amiga tends to use memory and not give it back. Let's face it--
the Amiga does use memory without returning it.
The utility SweepMem, with the double-click of its icon, quietly and
quickly returns memory to the system. The only evidence of its effect is the
increase in the memory meter number in the top Workbench bar.
When your system memory gets low, you can free up some memory by
invoking SweepMem. The program can be copied to your C: directory, or
`use SweepMem with the PD program "MyMenu" to provide your WorkBench with
a "Memory/Clean Up" option. You'll be surprised at the amount of memory
recovered when it's invoked (from MyMenu) after closing the CLI.
Authorship of SweepMem is not known to us. We [JumpDisk, Mar 89] are
told it came on a disk of European PD material that appeared about three
years ago.
