Z * O * N * X
by David Billen...
Zonx is not copywritten. It is not shareware. Of course, anyone who
wants to send me money, for any reason, is permitted, but you need
not feel that little pang of guilt when you read the shareware notice
and know your not sending anything anyway. Zonx is free. No matter
how you feel about the game, always remember that fact , and if your
like me, you'll feel better.
6,000,000 light years from here, a magic sword was broken when it was
dropped by a prince that had been pierced with an arrow by a crazed
king whos wife had a plot to conquer the next planet which was trying
to blow up the galaxy to escape the wrath of a demonic being.
None of this had anything to do with the fact that here on planet
Earth, a bored programmer spent a weekend burping down Budweisers
and programming Zonx.
Zonx is basically a maze game with a real twist! What is that twist
you ask? What is the twist that makes Zonx, not just another maze game,
but hours of family entertainment? Not unlike modern art, this is left
to the interpretation of the individual, yes, thats really what the
deal is that, Zonx is not just a game, but really a modern art form
where in a seemingly void landscape, the individual finds a meaning!
(ahem).
Okay, you move around the maze and try to run over the squares that
appear before they fade away. The less faded it is, the more points
you get. As you advance levels there are more mazes, and the game gets
faster.. but here lies that Zonx magic... that "twist" if you will:
MONSTERS ARE TRYING TO CHASE YOU AROUND THE MAZE!!!! I MEAN IT!!!
GREEN MONSTERS!!! RUN LIKE HELL IN THIS MAD RACE, RUN FROM GREEN
MONSTERS!!!!
So the concept is a little spent. The graphics are smooth, and most
importantly, Zonx is free!
If you have any special complaints, or critiques, initialize your
favorite text editor. Type your complaints in neat paragraphs, and
save the file under the file name "Complaints". Then go to the CLI
command interpreter, and issue the following command:
type Complaints > NIL:
By the way, where did the name Zonx come from? Its a mantra I made up
once. I tried it out for a couple of days, and found it a little awkward
to chant. (Wait till you see my upcoming arcade hit, Ome!)
Before shutting up, I better mention that you move with the arrow keys,
and the Esc key stops the game, (though sometimes theres a few
seconds delay before the game actually stops).
