- This is an animation made with VideoScape 3D 2.0 by Allen Hastings. It
- demonstrates several new features in VideoScape 2.0.
-
- The first is mirror color. The teapot is made up of many small polygons,
- all given the mirror color. With mirror color, the color of any polygon
- face depends on its orientation in that frame of the scene. If the polygon
- face points to the sky, then it takes on the sky color. If the face points
- to the ground, then it takes on the ground color. This gives the eye
- the illusion of reflective metal. The illusion of metal comes from
- the apparent horizon visible on the reflected surface.
-
- This is not a ray-traced animation. If there is another object in the
- scene, it will not be visible on the surface of the teapot. Mirror mode
- might be called "vampire mode," because you can't see things in its
- mirrored surfaces.
-
- The second is Phong shading, which makes polygon-based objects look smooth.
- They normally look machine-like, with sharp edges.
