FOT
Program by Allen Hastings

The Foreign Object Translator program converts Sculpt 3D .scene objects to
VideoScape 3D 1.0 and 1.1 format. Colors and textures are converted, too.
It only transfers files one-way; it does not convert objects from
VideoScape 3D to Sculpt 3D. FOT was written by Allen Hastings, the author
of VideoScape 3D.
The binary format is a new object format that will be available in
VideoScape 3D version 1.1. It is much more compact than the ASCII format,
and loads much faster.
To use FOT, enter:
1> FOT
at the command line. A window will appear. A prompt will ask for a Sculpt
3D file name. Enter the name of a Sculpt 3D .scene file. It will ask for
a VideoScape output file name, this will be the name of the converted GEO
file. It will ask if you want to write the file in the binary format.
Enter 'N' for no, unless you are sure you have the version 1.1 update to
VideoScape 3D. VideoScape 3D version 1.0 will not recognize the binary
file type, so do not ask for binary files unless you have the newer
version.
InterChange
If you'd like to convert objects both ways between Sculpt 3D and VideoScape
3D, or convert objects to and from the Forms in Flight or Silver formats,
then check out InterChange from Syndesis. This $49.95 program lets you
share objects between VideoScape 3D and Sculpt 3D. It converts VideoScape
3D objects to Sculpt 3D form, either .scripts or .scenes, and converts
Sculpt 3D objects to VideoScape 3D form. Colors and textures are
translated in a more sophisticated way than in FOT.
Future InterChange modules will support Forms in Flight, Silver and Animate
3D object formats. These will be available separately. Other Syndesis
products in the future will enhance all 3D modeling programs - other things
than converting between formats. InterChange is an expandable modeling
program enhancer.
To order InterChange, contact your local dealer or write to Syndesis, 20
West Street, Wilmington, Mass. 01887. Please include $3 shipping and
handling, and 5 percent tax if you are in Wisconsin or Massachusetts. A
free catalog of Syndesis products is available, just send a stamped,
self-addressed envelope to the address above.
This ARC file contains an example of a file converted from VideoScape 3D
format to Sculpt 3D format. This is the Infinite Loop ship from VideoScape
3D. It also contains an IFF image of a Sculpt object converted to
VideoScape 3D form, a F-15 plane.
