- Flipper is an advanced computer game playing program that has been developed
- to show how some of the new AI software technologies can be programmed. The
- Amiga version of this program has been converted from its original language
- to C and the final run-time version has been placed into the public domain
- by the author. Flipper is a computer program that plays near championship
- level Othello/Reversi.
-
- The play of the game is completely controlled via the mouse. First, select
- the skill level for the computers that are to play. Computer 1 is the
- computer that would play as player 1 and Computer 2 is the computer that
- would play as player 2. Then select the game mode. The modes let you
- select if the human is to play as player 1 or player 2 or both or neither.
- (That's right, you can have the computer play against itself.)
- At any time during the game, you can change any of the selections, but they
- do not take effect until the end of the current move. Thus, you can change
- sides, change the playing level, or have the computer finish the game for
- you by selecting the option. All selections are made via the menu.
