The WINDOWS Documentation, should give you all the information you
need to use the DOS version. Of course, you cannot take advantage
of the WINDOWS features, which it contains.
Be aware of the following DOS ONLY differences:
FIDO Support has been implemented into the DOS version!
You must start PowerBBS with START.BAT. You should place START.BAT
in your PATH.
PBBSPROT.EXE is our transfer protocol. Is uses the INT 14, so you
can only use it when you have this setup. Included are X and Y
modem. If you want to use this, you have to delete the Zmodem setup
in your protocol.bbs, as Zmodem is not currently supported.
If you are not using INT14, replace the PROTOCOL.BBS on this disk,
into your \PowrBBS\Config directory. This is the DSZ setup. You
will need DSZ.COM in your PATH.
You MUST load ANSI.SYS in your CONFIG.SYS for COLOR. The
internal ANSI Translator is only in the WINDOWS Version. The ANSI.SYS
/ZANSI.SYS, etc, happen to be quicker anyhow.
If you are using COMMDRV, you MUST set up the modem section to answer
automatically. This usually means: S0=1 in your MODEM init, and
Answer by Ring? Set to No
The DOS Version: Use DTR to drop caller? Should be set to Yes.
