  8. Hi, I have some ideas to throw out about what pump Jack to use, Where we live
  9. here in Missouri, REA only came in to a lot of areas in the late 50's to
  10. early 60's, so lost of pre-REA stuff is still arround and shows up at farm
  11. sales. A very popular method of pumping water was the pump jack, which could
  12. be driven by a gas motor, a wind mill ( in the few good wind sites here ), or
  13. an electric motor ( or even by hand in the event of 'power' failure ). We
  14. wanted to use this technology, initialy on the grid, because it was cheap (
  15. ours was given to us, we have since picked up two spares in GOOD condition
  16. for under $25 ) long lasting, reliable, able to be fixed by us ( the working
  17. parts of the pump, while down in the well can be
  18. pulled by hand up through the 2" drop pipe, everything else is up above
  19. ground ), and able to be driven by a DC motor. The only drawback is the rate
  20. of flow, they max out at about 3 GPM. We have a large hill up from our well,
  21. we put a 360 gal. stainless milk tank in a ( to be ) insulated tank house at
  22. the top, it gives us 30 PSI, and over 400 gal. as fast as we can use them,
  23. before we are down to the 2.2 gal ( for our set up) per minuite flow. These
  24. are old, but we have had NO problems in 5 years of operation. They are heavy,
  25. shipping would be expensive, but this might be an option to think about.
