Moravian mission stations attracted a "wintering" population of nut from nearby settlements, thus giving rise to several permanent Inuit communities along the coast of Labrador. This photograph shows a typical early mission complex with church, mission house, trading store, warehouses and gardens. The Inuit houses are located to the left of the mission buildings.
