The president of the Canadian Federation of Textile Workers, Wilfrid Paquette, addresses the workers of Valleyfield. The union to which Marie belongs has been representing Valleyfield's cotton workers since 1906. The Federation at that time had more than seven thousand members throughout the province. In 1908, Marie's union dues amount to eight cents per month. She attends meetings organized by the union.
