Another public gathering place was Valleyfield's amusement hall which housed a skating rink on which local hockey teams competed. Marie came here very rarely, however. In the background is the cotton mill and, in the centre, a steamer on its way to Kingston. Barges carrying coal destined for the mill are lined up along the wharf.
