Jeffery Mine in Asbestos is still in operation and employs more than 2,000 miners. In the past twenty-five years, working conditions have changed. Open-pit mining is now the only method employed with the help of immense cranes and trucks. Some miners have purchased modest houses others have rental accommodation. Although this worker has been able to provide his family with all the material comforts, certain problems have not yet been solved. The threat of asbestosis remains and is still the subject of better dispute.
