Asbestos ore has a fibrous appearance. The silky asbestos fibres, once extracted from the rock, can be as strong as wire and they are incombustible as well. Asbestos is used in the manufacture of papers, asphalted paper for roofing, shingles, pipe coating, fabrics and insulation materials.
