OCR: < < <<< DirKING v3.00 >>> > > FEATURES REFERENCE - Release : 16-Feb-94 Copyright -1990-1994 Chris P. Vandierendonck, [AmiSYS]. DirKING DirKING prints a directory listing with more information and style, then the usual directory list commands. The listing can be fully custom formatted. Has all the features of the AmigaDOS 'List' command, and most of the 'Dir' command features. Even gives ' Info' like information. DirKING is reentrant, so it can be made resident (which is recommended ) . DirKING requires at least AmigaDOS v1.2. New AmigaDOS v2.x and v3.x features are fully supported (including multiple assigns, links and datatypes). DirKING's listings can be used to compile a reference of your disk collection, having always a clear idea of what a disk contains. Documentation - A quick step-in manual explains the basics of the program's usage, although if you can use 'List', you can use DirKING. The manual itself is intended for users who want to use the real power of DirKING. Registered users receive a reference card with all options and codes . Directory scanning DirKING can be given on or more paths to scan, including the current directory. Recursive paths are supported. Patterns may be used in paths, even allows defining patterns for each directory level. These patterns can be use on both files and dirs, or on files only or dirs only. As of AmigaDOS v2.x, directory and file links will be supported. DirKING also recognizes circular directory links, thus avoiding endless directory scans. Read an entire directory, or specify how far DirKing can descend the directory tree. Global directory filters are supported. Most filters are based on the file and directory names: read filters, pass filters, substring filters, character range filters, comment filters and datatype filters. Also supported are date filters and protectionflag filters. - All filters can be made effective on both files and dirs, files only or dirs only. Pattern matching codes supported under AmigaDOS v1.x are : "#", "?", "", "I" and "*" (equal to "#?"). The "(" and ")" codes may be used, but they're ignored. DirKING v3.00 Features Reference - Page 1 Users of AmigaDOS v2.0 and later automatically have the full AmigaDOS pattern range to their use. The first use of DirKING also bursts the wildcard code '*' (equal to "#?") into the system, thus making it available for all programs. Directory information - The following fields of a directory entry are supported name (full or naked name), name extension, diskkey, blocks used, bytes used, attributes (protection flags), date, time, datestamp, table and line comments, full path and path relative to scanned path, link, datatype description, datatype basename, datatype type, datatype group and datatype id. Directories have two additional fields: the number of sub-dirs and the number of files found. One can specify which fields to print, in what order and in and in what format. Define what information you want in the listing header and at the end of the listing. By default a title is printed above the listing indicating what the columns in the table stand for. Dirking gives more extensive information on a volume (disk) than the AmigaDOS 'Info' command. This information can be printed in the listing header. Dirking always gets the correct notation of the scanned path. Assign names are preserved unless the full path is wanted. Define a maximum width of the listing table, or use the width of the Shell window. Expand the listing to the maximum width. Supports date replacements by 'Sunday. . . Saturday', 'Today' , 'Yesterday' , 'Tomorrow' and 'Future' Print values in decimal or hexadecimal notation. Users of AmigaDOS v2. 1 and later can use 'locale' formatted values. The attributes (protection flags) can be printed as a binary value . Listing formatting - The listing can be sorted (ascending/descending) on the following fields: name (full and naked name), extension, size (blocks and bytes), number of sub-dirs, number files, date, time, datatype type, comment and protection flags. The user can define on what fields to sort, and in which order, thus allowing complex sorting. Files and dirs can be placed in the following order: files first, dirs first or files mixed with dirs. Print the fields in any order you want, and in what character style you want. Supports the use of AmigaDOS print control sequences. Generate scripts with the LFORMAT option, which can be executed from within DirKING, thus making the use of EXECUTE obsolete. Define your own date, time and datestamp formats. DirKing includes predefined listing formats, date- and timeformats which can be accessed by a simple code. Supports paging of the listing. Define how many lines to print on a single page. Send the listing to the Shell window, the printer or any file. The listing can be stripped from all print control sequences, thus giving pure text. DirKING v3.00 Features Reference - Page 2 Additional features Monitor the scanning process. Print any message or a DiskID-string (used with disk cataloging tools) in your listing header. Supports scanning of multiple directories in a row. Show the structure of the directory tree. Detailed information on each sub-dir, including number of dirs and files, and used blocks and bytes.
