Dump
This is a new version with two new features:
- now you can jump directly to a specific address
- there is a simple buildt-in hex-calculator
Further I realised a suggestion from (I believe) Michael Geary.
If the Edit-option is selected it will be indicated in the menu by an û. This
looks a little more like Windows.
Dump is a program for viewing and modifying (caution !!!) any type of file in either binary and ascii mode.
It's provided as an .opo and .opa file.
Installation:
Copy the .opo file to any \opo directory or the .opa file to any \app directory.
The Dump1.pic file must be copied into the \opd directory of the same drive that contains the .opo or .opa file.
Instructions:
The screen is divided into a status line at the top, a dump in binary mode and a dump, in ascii mode. The status
line indicates the bytes shown and the actual position of the cursor.
<cursor left> move one byte left
<cursor right> move one byte right
<cuorsor up> move eight bytes up
<cursor down> move eight bytes down
<page up> move one page (64 bytes) up
<page down> move one pages (64 bytes) down
<Psion> f asks for a new filename
<Psion> i gives some information of the file in use
<Psion> e this is a toggle key for editing the current file.
The editing-mode will be indicated by an arrow at the left side of either
the binary or the ascii dump.
You may toggle between the binary and the ascii mode by pressing the <tab>
key.
In ascii mode can enter all characters available on the Series 3 keyboard and
also all combinations with <ctrl> <number> without the combination <ctrl> 009
(this is the <tab> key). Each character is written directly to the file.
In dump mode you may enter all values in hex-mode (0-9,a-f). The program waits
for two keystrokes and then writes the character to the file. After the first half-byte
you can delete it pressing the <del> key.
Pressing the <esc> key will terminate the byte editing.
<Psion> x Exit the program
<menu> will bring up a pop-up menu with the above functions.
New features:
<Psion> j You will be ask for an address to jump to.
<Psion> c Pops up a simple hex-calculator. It works in RPN-mode.
That means that you have to enter operations like this
number <ENTER> number operator number operator ...
af1 <ENTER> bc4 + 15f * ...
Operators may be + - * /
You can calculate only with integers. Dividing an odd
number by an even number gives an integer.
A nice feature of the calculator is that pressing
<Psion> j within the calculator jumps directly to the
calculated address.
You can edit the number only with the <DEL> key.
Pressing Psion <j> or <ESC> leaves the calculator.
There is actually no Help-function.
Warning:
I will take no responsability for the lost of any data. I suggest to make a backup-copy of the files you will
modify.
I hope you enjoy th program. Let me know any bugs and comments. And pardon my faults. I know that my
english is very bad.
