  24. The storing of some types of Data is forbidden or restircted under the Data
  25. Protection Act.  It is the responsibility of the User (and NOT Psion) to
  26. register the data stored using this program.

  29. INSTALLATION
  30.  
  31. To install the program, you will need to install the following file:
  32.  
  33. Into \APP\CDBASE\       CDADDON.OVL     Overlay file for 'Addons'
  34.  
  35. Once this program is in place, a further set of options will appear on
  36. the menu in the CD Database program.
  37.  
  38. The program is 'Plug and Play', so you do NOT need to restart the
  39. CD Database program in order to use Addons, HOWEVER, since the program
  40. hooks into the overlay, you CANNOT delete the overlay file whilst it is
  41. in use.

  43. In other words, if 'Addons' appears on the menu, you cannot delete the
  44. overlay file until you close the program.

  47. USING THE PROGRAM

  49. The following sub-menu appears on the main menu:

  61. EXPORT DISC

  63. This option allows the current disc to be exported into a text file, the
  64. format of which conforms to that used by the import function.

  69. This option allows the current database to be exported into a text file,
  70. the format of which conforms to that used by the import function.

  73. A NOTE ON EXPORTING
  74.  
  75. Exporting is useful, since it saves having to type the details of a disc
  76. in more than once.  You can enter the details of a disc, and then distribute
  77. this record to everyone else who you know who ALSO has this disc.

  79. The problems start to occur, when you realise that YOUR code is saved in the
  80. export file, and will be re-imported.  This may need to be changed by the
  81. person importing the file.

  83. The other problem is the 'Styles', since these are saved numerically, but
  84. if your Style no.7 (ie. the 7th line in the dialog) is 'Jazz', and the
  85. person received the file has Style no.7 set to 'Rock', then your Jazz
  86. CDs will be imported as 'Rock' CDs.

  88. If you intend to distribute such files, then you should use only the six
  89. default styles available.  The alternative is to distribute the .CDS file
  90. from which the database was exported.  This contains the details of the
  91. styles you have added, so if someone created a new database, and copied
  92. YOUR .CDS file over THEIR .CDS file, then YOUR styles would be used instead.

  97. It is not permitted to store some types of information without the
  98. permission of the owner.  For other types of information, distribution
  99. of this information is not permitted.  It is the responsibility of the user
  100. and NOT Psion GmbH to ensure that he/she confirms to these legal
  101. requirements.

  104. CALCULATOR
  105.  
  106. This feature is in response to a request from customers, such as Steve Jones
  107. on Cix.
  108.  
  109. The calculator allows the you to calculate who long a collection of Tracks
  110. takes, for transfer to tape, for example.
  111.  
  112. Enter for each track a search key.  This can be part of the title, artist,
  113. or reference.  You wil be presented with a further dialog, with the possible
  114. choices in it.  Select the one you require, and it will be added to the
  115. list on the screen.

  117. When you are finished, leave the search key blank, and the total time will
  118. be displayed in a dialog.
