- And now for a few hello's.....
-
- 1. To Jon Aylwin, for many reasons.
-
- 2. To the Doggysoft lot, for writing The Hacker (undoubtedly the
- best games hacker and a snip at £5 - much better than the "Gay
- Wazzard" !??!) which can be bought from 7, Blackhorse Crescent,
- Amersham, Bucks. HP6 6HP. (cheques made payable to 'Doggysoft'),
- and also for brightening up my desktop with their lovely new
- Hourglass module, whose name escapes me (NiceHourGl I think).
- And also a big thankyou to them for putting Hi - Res Iconz
- in their applications. Not a lot of PD authors do you know.
-
- 2½. To Colin McEwan, for his excellent applications, and
- his advice on life, the universe and everything.
-
- 3. To the DataFile, for running the best PD service out at 22,
- Anson Road, Locking, Weston Super Mare, Avon, BS24 7DQ. Most of
- the PD programs that have their icons featured in here came from
- the DataFile.
-
- 3¼. To Tracy of SICK, for writing !Kysmet, upon which my whole
- life is based. Oh Tracy, when is !Scorpius going to be released?
- Hmmm, was it going to be released in Winter '91, Summer '92,
- Winter '92 (when Arxe said it was 99% complete - honest!)? Now with
- the demise of Arxe Systems, what has happened to it. Come on SICK,
- we cannot let Technodream be the best, the 1 level demo of
- Scorpius that I have got is better than that effort! Maybe it
- was something to do with evil, black bearded pixies.....
-
- 3½. To Aleph One, for fitting my ARM 3 in record speed (3 working
- days, including 2 way carriage)!
-
- 3¾. To the authours of !CacheIt, !Showtypes and !DDD, from
- where some of the icons were poached from and to
- Denis Howe, who compiled the list that 370 of the filetypes
- came from.
-
- 4. And finally to Acorn, for creating the machine I write this
- on, without them I'd be using an Amiga (heaven forbid!) :-( .
-
- Talking of Amoeba's, Commodores new 32 bit CD console doesn't
- stand a chance against the 3DO system (the one with *Acorn*
- chips). It's basically an 2 Meg Amoeba 1200 with a CD ROM
- drive instead of a floppy drive. Tacky or wot!
- Well that just about sums up Commodore for you! I saw a picture
- of it in the paper today. It looks like the cr*p datacorder that
- I had for my *Acorn Electron* (no, I'm not scared to admit it, I had
- an Elk, and a damn fine computer it was too - until the built in TV
- modulator died) many years ago. If Commodore want to incorporate
- retro 1980's styling, let them. The control pads are really tasteful
- too, they look like something out of Star Trek (not that there is
- anything wrong with Star Trek, it's a damn fine show (when will the
- game be converted to the Arc? Thats damn good too...Not the talky one
- though, that's a shade pointless).
