Damon Crain is a multi-media and interdisciplinary artist, born in Ottawa, Ontario, in 1974. He studied at the Emily Carr Institute of Art and Design, Vancouver, at the Pratt Institute, New York, and at the Ottawa School of Art.
Scope and content
The collection consists a light box and backlit cibachrome poster, entitled "Sweettooth: The Proof part 3," a candy trophy, entitled "Sweettooth: The Proof part iii of 2," an icing sugar medal, entitled "Sweettooth: The Proof part iv of 1," and keychains composed of resin and candy, entitled "Sweettooth: The Proof part 5," all by Damon Crain.

The artist stated that "Sweettooth is a multimedia project that integrates performance, installation, sculpture, and image making. As a whole, the project achieves a pastiche of each medium in a manner that avoids compromising the respective components. Further, documentation itself becomes a rallying point for the semiotic theme of Sweettooth. When Sweettooth is exhibited in any of its manifestations, an opportunity is created to engage the perceiver in understanding the issues at hand....By exploring these ideas and wrapping them all into a single package that is Sweettooth, I have created a project that has the aura of Hollywood and fantasy of mythology...."
