Helen Aggarwal is an artist whose practice involves community based work, painting, installation, and sculpture. She was born in Guelph, Ontario in 1956, and studied at Simon Fraser University, Burnaby, British Columbia.
Scope and content
The work, entitled "Introducing ... tol ( her(his)story of relationships )" by Helen Aggarwal, 1997, consists of an assemblage in several parts, composed of "tol (spider) and web, 5 m long, three panels including a panel of black and white photoprints with cedar shavings, 180 x 180 cm, a panel of colour photoprints edged with cedar shavings, 180 x 180 cm, and one hundred and fifty-two loonies and one toonie [Canadian one dollar and two dollar coins] on a clear plastic panel, 180 x 180 cm, with a ball of crocheted webbing intended by the artist for hanging the three panels.
