Reid Shier is an artist born in Calgary, Alberta in 1963. He studied at Emily Carr College of Art and Design in Vancouver, British Columbia.

The collection consists of one colour slide, one Ralph Marlin 100% polyester necktie, six colour photoprints of various dimensions, including four elementary school class photographs and a high school graduation photograph, a sound recording on tape of Neil Diamond, "Classics: The Early Years," 1983, one identity card issued to Reid Shier by Emily Carr College of Art and Design, ten photocopies, 21.5 x 28 cm, four business cards, including Shannon Oksanen personal shopper, two transcripts of Shier's academic record from Emily Carr College of Art and Design and from the Alberta Ministry of Education, a telephone number written on a torn cigarette package flap, two letters of recommendation for Shier, and a letter from the Open Learning Society, Vancouver, to Shier in 1989, a magnetic chess travel set container and chess pieces [temporarily separated], and seven postcards.
