Davide Pan is a sculptor born in Schio, Vicenza, Italy, in 1965. In 1985 he graduated from Capilano College, from 1985-1986 he studied at the Accademia di Belle Arti in Venice, Italy, and in 1987 pursued studies in fine arts at the University of British Columbia, followed by further study at Capilano College in fine arts, and at Emily Carr Institute of Art and Design in inter-disciplinary studies.
Scope and content
The work consists of seven nested steel boxes [as with a Russian doll], box 1, 36 x 24 x 10 cm, box 2, 35 x 22 x 9 cm, box 3, 34 x 21 x 8 cm, box 4, 32.5 x 20 x 6.5 cm, box 5, 31 x 19.5 x 5.5 cm, box 6, 30.5 x 18 x 4.5 cm, and box 7, 27 x 16.5 x 3 cm.
Note
The artist observed that, "the title, in Italian, is an expression commonly used to let someone know to leave one alone, to not bother, to not crowd one's space. That space being the creative place where one makes art."
