Scope and content
The work, entitled "L'Ordre Mondial," by Michele Rechtman-Smolkin, 1997, consists of an assemblage in four parts, a wood frame, 31.5 x 26.5 cm, with five mounted wood handled tools, titled "Les instruments," a card box, 39 x 25 .5 x 7.5 cm, with photocopied images of children mounted inside, titled "Les coupables," a red box, 7.5 x 7.5 x 1, with a gold interior containing a 'loonie' [one dollar coin] "le moteur," and a red cloth titled "L'Ordre Mondial." on the interior of a document box containing these four components are affixed a set of instructions to the install the work: one plastic laminated text on red paper with gold ink, and two Polaroid photoprints, "Installed," and "Put away."
