Susannah Blundell is a drawer and printmaker born in Toronto, Ontario, in 1972. She studied at Okanagan College, where she received a Diploma in Fine Arts, and at the University of Victoria, Bachelor of Fine Arts.
Scope and content
The collection consists of four copper etching plates, 11 x 15 cm, 11 x 22.5 cm, 11 x 29.5 cm, and 13.5 x 30.5, etched by Susannah Blundell, and one folded sheet of paper, 25 x 56 cm, with an etching printed on both sides [rough print], and an ink and paint covered skirt together with a scrap of newspaper covered with printers ink.

The artist stated: "I brought these items in to share a small amount of my printmaking process. I would classify myself as an intaglio printmaker. I love the process of etching the plate with deep acid bites - trying to control the process & letting it take over; giving you something of an image that you may not have planned. I like to work more with accidents than with a preplanned image & just go with it. The plates I find are very beautiful but they are usually marked after the final print. I think they should be looked at as part of the print. The shirt is one of my many smocks that don't always keep me clean, I also find them fascinating. They are part of the process & I definitely feel the process is what I love. The final print is a rewarding feeling. You look back at all the steps and realize that you've actually done a lot of work & didn't even notice."
