  34. --------------------------- What is LOGIMENU? ----------------------------
  35. This is the new generation of DOS menu system. From the user who only needs
  36. to access programs quickly and easily (with a touch of a key or two), to
  37. the user who needs to turn on all the bells and whistles, LOGIMENU satisfies
  38. them all. Extensive on-line help, EGA/VGA 43/50 line mode supported, truly
  39. mouse support, has passwords, screen saver, hidden hot keys, customizable
  40. help and all this in an attractive presentation.

  42. LOGIMENU also can remind you of important dates with its Event Tracking.
  43. Brief, LOGIMENU can make your life much easier. Furthermore, LOGIMENU does
  44. not use a single byte of memory while your own programs run. Reporting
  45. system that allows you to generate various interesting reports. Its automa-
  46. tic installation process scans your hard drive for popular programs. One of
  47. its three level of installation will just suit your needs perfectly.

  49. Up to 50 items per menu, 50 sub-menus (multiple levels), 80 commands per
  50. item and 30 general hidden hot keys. LOGIMENU has enough room to satisfy
  51. the most demanding user.

  54. ---------------------------- How to INSTALL? -----------------------------
  55. To install LOGIMENU, insert the distribution diskette in drive A: and
  56. enter:
  57.         A: [ENTER]
  58.         INSTALL [ENTER]
  59.  
  60. and simply follow the prompts. INSTALL will not modify your system without
  61. your authorization. INSTALL will also give you the choice to include
  62. LOGIMENU in you AUTOEXEC.BAT file (which is the file that is executed auto-
  63. matically when you turn on your computer). If you are currently running
  64. another menu system, you might have to remove it from your AUTOEXEC.BAT file,
  65. otherwise the old menu will be executed before LOGIMENU.

  84.         DISK#1       Disk Identification. Required by the INSTALL program.
  85.         L1           The main LOGIMENU program. Will be LMENU.EXE
  86.         L2           Contains the SET-UP program. Will be LMENUSET.EXE
  87.         L3           Contains the report generator. Will be LMREPORT.EXE
  88.         L4           Contains the EVENT scheduler. Will be LMEVENT.EXE

  90.         INST.DAT     INSTALL data file. (list of files to be installed)
  91.         LMENUCFG.BW  The configuration file for Black & White. (LMENU.CFG)
  92.         LMENUCFG.COL The configuration file for color monitors. (LMENU.CFG)
  93.         BOOT.COM     Utility used to re-boot your computer.
  94.         LMALARM.COM  Memory resident alarm used by the ALARM (if ANYWHERE)

  108.         LM.BAT       Not included with LOGIMENU. It is created by the
  109.                      INSTALL. This is the file that must always be used
  110.                      to run LOGIMENU.
  111.  
  112. ------------------------------ OWNER'S MANUAL ----------------------------
  113. To view the Owner's Manual, use the program README.EXE provided with
  114. LOGIMENU. The syntax is:
  115.  
  116.      README LMENU.DOC

  118. An OWNER'S MANUAL option has been added to the main menu of the LOGIMENU
  119. sample file to accommodate the viewing.
  120.  
  121. ------------------------------ REQUIREMENTS ------------------------------
  122. IBM compatible with at least 384 K of memory running DOS 3.0 or higher.
  123.  
  124. ------------------------------ REGISTRATION ------------------------------
  125. To register, install LOGIMENU. Take note of the code on the solicitation
  126. window for each registration you want to file. Press F8 at the main menu.
  127. This will copy the file REGIST.FRM to your printer. Fill in, and return
  128. your remittance to:

  135. Payment can be made by cheque or credit card. See the file REGIST.FRM for

  138. The registration fee is $50 plus $5 for postage and handling (Canadian
  139. funds).

  143.     window from showing up every once in a while.

  150. Also newsletter is sent to all registered users on a periodic basis. It
  151. talks about simple tricks to improve your own set-up. Also, it reports
  152. the changes in latest update if any.

  157. --------------------------- EARLIER DOS (BEFORE 3.3) ---------------------
  158. LOGIMENU requires DOS version 3.0 and up. If you have a DOS version prior
  159. to 3.3, this note is for you.
  160.  
  161. In the command list (in Set-Up), you cannot use the CALL function to call
  162. another batch file. Instead, you must use the following line:
  163.  
  164. d:\COMMAND /C mybatch
  165.  
  166. where "d:" is your boot drive, and "mybatch" is the batch file that you
  167. need to call up from LOGIMENU.
  168.  
  169. See the recommendations in the Manual (INTRODUCTION) related to the DOS
  170. version.
  171.  
  172. ------------------------------ COLORS IN LOGIMENU ------------------------
  173.     If the color in LOGIMENU hinders proper viewing, try to enter
  174. a CTRL-D (Default color). Then go to the Set-up (F3 key) and set your
  175. own colors (F8 key).
  176.  
  177.     The color of each menu item can be programmed separately by pressing
  178. F2 and F4 while in EDIT MENU mode. Please refer to the Owner's Manual.

  181. ------------------------------- QUICK START ------------------------------
  182.     To quickly start LOGIMENU, run the INSTALL. It will set LOGIMENU
  183. to run perfectly on your system. It may even scan your drive to install
  184. most of the common programs.
  185.  
  186.     Once inside LOGIMENU, select README to review the README file.
  187. Or, select OWNER'S MANUAL for a detailed instruction.
  188.  
  189.     Press F1 to get a quick help on the keys and mouse functions. F3
  190. will bring you to the SET-UP of LOGIMENU.
  191.  
  192.  
  193. ------------------------------- SOUND TEST -------------------------------
  194.         Try to enter a CTRL-S (Hold down the [Ctrl] key and press the [S]
  195. key) from the sample menu. We have set up a Sound Test Hidden Option.

  198. ---------------------- NEW FEATURES IN VERSION 1.01 ----------------------
  199. 1 - CTRL-V displays the version number (logo screen).
  200. 2 - Setting both the foreground and background colors of the BAR to BLACK
  201.     produces a REVERSE COLOR BAR.
  202. 3 - The main menu has been extended with 3 more options:
  203.         README
  204.         OWNER'S MANUAL
  205.         EXIT TO DOS
  206. 4 - File README.EXE has been included to ease the task of reading the
  207.     Owner's Manual.
  208. 5 - Memory allocation problems with RESIDENT programs have been fixed.

  210.  
  211. ---------------------- NEW FEATURES IN VERSION 1.50 ----------------------
  212. 1-  In SET-UP, you can "UN-DELETE" a deleted item anywhere. You can also
  213.     undelete the same item many times. An item can easily be "duplicated"
  214.     in different menus.
  215.     After deleting an item (or menu), you will see the item's name on
  216.     the second line of your screen. Press F9, or click the mouse button on
  217.     it to re-insert that deleted item.
  218. 2-  Completely re-designed color customization. Much easier and user friendly
  219.     screen that allows you to set any color of any area in only three key
  220.     strokes: Area selection, Foreground color selection, and Background
  221.     color selection.
  222. 3-  Context sensitive help in Set-Up. Each prompt in the Set-Up properly
  223.     explains all your options.
  224. 4-  Three levels of automatic INSTALL: Beginner, Intermediate and
  225.     Experienced. INSTALL can scan your drives and set-up LOGIMENU for
  226.     you.
  227. 5-  $0 argument. This new argument of the command list is replaced by
  228.     the directory where LOGIMENU is found. Handy for all auxiliary
  229.     programs coming from LOGIVISION.
  230. 6-  Password Protection. You can set a password for each option, and/or
  231.     a password on a whole sub-menu. Also, Set-Up can have a password.
  232. 7-  Event feature has been added. It checks and reminds you of any type
  233.     of events when the time comes.
  234.  
  235. --------------------- BUGS CORRECTED IN VERSION 1.51 ---------------------
  236. 1-  The installation takes care of DISK FULL error.
  237. 2-  LOGIMENU remembers the last option of all sub-menus.
  238. 3-  BIOS video read and write were using direct memory access in certain
  239.     areas. This is now corrected in this version.
  240. 4-  Screen width over 80 characters was not handled properly. Now it is
  241.     handled properly if video mode is set to DEFAULT in Set-Up.
  242. 5-  LED indicators were flashing when screen was cleared. This caused
  243.     problems on multi-tasking systems. They do not blink any more.
  244. 6-  The cursor did not disappear on monochrome monitors while the screen
  245.     saver was in effect. This is now corrected.
  246. 7-  The Logivision's LOGO screen was opening very slowly on very fast
  247.     machines. This is now corrected.
  248. 8-  NEW FEATURE: In color selection, you may choose between FLASHING and
  249.     HIGH INTENSITY BACKGROUND with the F10 key. If High Intensity is choosen,
  250.     then the running projects are identified with an asterisk instead of a
  251.     flashing colon (":").
  252.  
  253. ---------------------------- IN CASE OF A PROBLEM ------------------------
  254. Q:  When I select an option, another option is executed. Why?
  255.  
  256. A:  You probably installed LOGIMENU in a directory that is not in the
  257.     PATH, and copied LM.BAT onto a directory that was in the PATH.
  258.     In this case, LOGIMENU is modifying the LM.BAT which is on the
  259.     LOGIMENU directory, but the LM.BAT that you copied onto the PATH
  260.     directory is left unchanged.
  261.     The ".BAT" file which is on your PATH should contain only one line:
  262.            C:\LOGIMENU\LM.BAT
  263.     "C:\LOGIMENU" is the location (drive and path) where you installed
  264.     LOGIMENU. In this case, whenever you type LM from DOS, the LM.BAT file
  265.     on your PATH will run the LM.BAT file which is on LOGIMENU's
  266.     directory.
  267.  
  268.     The new INSTALL of version 1.50 takes care of that automatically. Use
  269.     it and all necessary files will be created.

  272. Q:  I have SAVE PROMPT set in the Set-Up, but the last commands are always
  273.     ignored when I start my computer again. Why?
  274.  
  275. A:  LOGIMENU transfers the information from the EMS to the disk when the
  276.     proper EXIT code is encountered. It also closes its files at the same
  277.     time. Before turning off your computer, make sure you select EXIT.
  278.     Proper EXIT is either the "[EXIT]" command or the "GOTO FINISH" line.
  279.     See the HELP in the command of Set-Up.
