VGADISK Version 1.0: 176K virtual disk in VGA memory (c) 1991 Tommy Frandsen

FEATURES:
- 176K virtual disk (RAM disk) using only VGA memory
- Is compatible with all text-only programs
- Easy installation and use
- Has been tested on many different machines
REQUIREMENTS:
- An IBM PC/XT/AT/PS2/Clone
- MS-DOS/PC-DOS 2.0 or higher
- A VGA graphics adaptor
SUPPLIED FILES:
- VGADISK.SYS: Device driver for the virtual disk
- VGADISK.EXE: Use when running graphics programs
- VGADISK.DOC: Documentation (this file)
INSTALLATION:
- Copy VGADISK.SYS into the root directory of your boot disk
- Insert the line "DEVICE=VGADISK.SYS" in CONFIG.SYS
- Reboot by pressing CTRL-ALT-DEL or by turning OFF/ON
- You should see a message containing the drive designation of
the created virtual disk (typically D: or E:)
- The virtual disk is now ready to be used as a normal DOS disk
COMPATIBILITY:
- VGADISK is compatible with any program that doesn't use graphics
- Graphics programs will destroy the contents of the virtual disk
- The virtual disk can be used like a normal (very fast) DOS disk
VGADISK.EXE:
- Allows you to restore the virtual disk after running graphics programs
- "VGADISK -F" : Reformat the virtual disk
- "VGADISK -Sxxx" : Save an image of the virtual disk to file xxx
- "VGADISK -Lxxx" : Load an image of the virtual disk from file xxx
- Example (could be included in a BAT-file):
VGADISK -SC:\TMP (save the virtual disk to file C:\TMP)
FS4 (run Flight Simulator or a similar program)
VGADISK -LC:\TMP (load the virtual disk from file C:\TMP)
WARNINGS:
- If you fail to restore the virtual disk after running a graphics
program, the results of using the virtual disk are unpredictable.
- Although this program has been very troughfully tested, any usage
of VGADISK is totally at your own risk. I am not responsible for
any damage caused by the program, either direct or indirect, to
your hardware or software. If you can't accept this restriction,
please don't use VGADISK.
