  14. Summary:

  16. MIPS machines need a hardware update in order to run Windows NT. The
  17. CPU must have an R4000 version of 2.0 or later. Contact your hardware
  18. manufacturer if you have not already obtained an update.

  20. Once the hardware has been updated, the machine must be reset before
  21. Windows NT is installed.

  25. To reset the machine, do the following:
  26.  
  27. 1. Select the "Run a program" menu at the PROM prompt.
  28.  
  29. 2. Enter the path for the Jzsetup program. The new Jzsetup program is
  30.    in the root of the CD-ROM drive. For example, enter the following
  31.    path
  32.  
  33.       scsi()cdrom(X)fdisk()\jzsetup.exe
  34.  
  35.    where "X" is the SCSI ID for the CD-ROM drive.
  36.  
  37. 3. Select the "Load default configuration" option and enter the
  38.    correct configuration for your machine.
  39.  
  40. 4. Select the "Load default environment" option and enter the correct
  41.    value for the variables. Note that Autoboot should be set to NO.

  43. To start the GUI installation program from the CD-ROM drive:
  44.  
  45. 1. Select the "Run a program" menu.

  47. 2. Enter the following
  48.  
  49.       scsi()cdrom(X)fdisk()\setupldr
  50.  
  51.    where "X" is the SCSI ID for the CD-ROM drive.

  53. After the installation is complete, the environment variables for the
  54. new boot partition are set up automatically for use when Windows NT is
  55. booted.
