- When you attempt to make your computer beep by pressiong ALT+7 (on the
- numeric keypad), a box character appears in your document instead.

- CAUSE
- =====

- The ALT+7 key combination produces a beep in Windows 3.1, but produces a
- character that has an ASCII value of 149 in Windows NT, which appears as a
- box character in Windows NT.

- Microsoft has confirmed this to be a problem in Windows NT version 3.1 and
- Windows NT Advanced Server version 3.1. We are researching this problem and
- will post new information here in the Microsoft Knowledge Base as it
- becomes available.
