- When you are using an IBM Token Ring 4/16 MB card on a computer faster than
- a 486/33, the IBM Token Ring 4/16 card may not function correctly. An error
- message indicating one of the services failed to start appears during
- startup; Event Viewer lists the affected services.

- CAUSE
- =====
-
- The affected services fail to start because they depend on the IBMTOK to
- start properly. The error message for the IBMTOK in Event Viewer indicates
- that the adapter returned an invalid value and that the adapter is not
- functioning properly.

- WORKAROUND
- ==========

- To work around this problem, do one of the following:
-
- - Use the computer at a slower speed.

- -or-

- - Use a 16-bit or 32-bit card.
