  18. When you are using an IBM Token Ring 4/16 MB card on a computer faster than
  19. a 486/33, the IBM Token Ring 4/16 card may not function correctly. An error
  20. message indicating one of the services failed to start appears during
  21. startup; Event Viewer lists the affected services.
  22.  
  23. CAUSE
  24. =====
  25.  
  26. The affected services fail to start because they depend on the IBMTOK to
  27. start properly. The error message for the IBMTOK in Event Viewer indicates
  28. that the adapter returned an invalid value and that the adapter is not
  29. functioning properly.
  30.  
  31. WORKAROUND
  32. ==========
  33.  
  34. To work around this problem, do one of the following:
  35.  
  36.  - Use the computer at a slower speed.
  37.  
  38.    -or-
  39.  
  40.  - Use a 16-bit or 32-bit card.
