  18. When the Mail post office is initially created under Windows NT, the
  19. network and post office names are read from the WORKGROUP= and
  20. COMPUTERNAME= lines in the [Network] section of the Windows for Workgroups
  21. SYSTEM.INI file. If no SYSTEM.INI is present, the network name defaults to
  22. WINDOWS and the post office name defaults to the mailbox name of the
  23. postoffice administrator.

  25. Since these default settings are set when the post office is created,
  26. changing the postoffice administrator mailbox after installation will not
  27. change the post office name. The only way to get a different post office
  28. name is to create a SYSTEM.INI file with at least a [Network] section and
  29. the following lines:

  31.    [Network]
  32.    computername=<desired post office name>
  33.    workgroup=<desired network name>
  34.  
  35. After creating this file, recreate the post office.  For information on how
  36. to delete and recreate the post office, query on the following words in the
  37. Microsoft Knowledge Base:

  41. To check what the Network and post office names are, choose the About Mail
  42. option from the Help menu or choose Details in the Postoffice Manager
  43. dialog box.
