  18. The Windows NT Common Dialog boxes for handling files may not
  19. recognize a local drive using drive Z as its drive letter.

  24. To work around this problem, manually type drive letter Z in the File
  25. Name box.

  30. Microsoft has confirmed this to be a problem in Windows NT version 3.1
  31. and Windows NT Advanced Server version 3.1. We are researching this
  32. problem and will post new information here in the Microsoft Knowledge
  33. Base as it becomes available.

  38. Steps to Reproduce Problem
  39. --------------------------

  41. 1. Use the Disk Administrator to assign a partition drive letter Z.
  42.  
  43. 2. Shut down Windows NT, reboot the machine, load Windows NT, and
  44.    open Notepad.
  45.  
  46. 3. Choose Open from the File menu, and then try to select drive Z in
  47.    the Open dialog box.
  48.  
  49. The drive letter Z does not appear in the Open dialog box.
  50.  
  51. This problem also occurs with the Save and Save As dialog boxes and in
  52. other applications using the Windows NT Common Dialog boxes.

  54. NOTE: A network drive Z does appear; this problem only occurs with a
  55. local drive using the letter Z.
