  19. If you try to create a directory or subdirectory in File Manager whose
  20. total path from the root, including backslashes (\), will be longer
  21. that 245 characters, you will receive the following error message:
  22.  
  23.    File Manager cannot create directory. The filename or extension is 
  24.    too long.
  25.  
  26. You will not be able create the directory.
  27.

  31. Microsoft has confirmed this to be a problem in Windows NT and Windows
  32. NT Advanced Server version 3.1. We are researching this problem and
  33. will post new information here in the Microsoft Knowledge Base as it
  34. becomes available.
