  16. SYMPTOMS

  19. The Archive 2150S tape drive will not perform a backup when the Verify
  20. option is selected. Instead, you receive the error message "Fatal
  21. Error on Drive #1." You can successfully backup and restore files if
  22. this option is not selected.

  24. CAUSE
  25. ======

  27. The tape backup system doesn't have the latest firmware.
  28.  
  29. RESOLUTION
  30. ==========
  31.  
  32. Contact Archive for a new version of the firmware. The current version
  33. of the firmware that has problems is 21247-005.
  34.  
  35. Temporary Workaround
  36. --------------------

  38. Log in under an account that can perform backups. Make sure that the
  39. Windows NT Backup program has been run once under this account. Under
  40. this account start REGEDT32. Change the value for HKEY_CURRENT_USER\
  41. Software\Microsoft\Ntbackup\Backup Engine\Use Fast File Restore:
  42. REG_SZ from 1 to 0.

  44. NOTE: There is a drawback to this workaround. If you try to restore a
  45. file, Backup will search the whole tape for the file instead of going
  46. right to the file.
