  15. The Hewlett-Packard (HP) LaserJet 4 PostScript printer driver
  16. (v2011.110) included with Windows NT does not have the 600 dots per
  17. inch (dpi) resolution as an option, although the printer is capable of
  18. printing 600 dpi in PostScript mode.
  19.  
  20. To work around this limitation, install and use the LaserJet 4Si/4Si
  21. MX PS printer driver and use the Lower Tray as the default tray. This
  22. driver allows the printer to print 600 dpi, but the printer's tray
  23. selection will be different than the tray selection of the printing
  24. device because the LaserJet 4 doesn't have the same trays as the
  25. LaserJet 4Si/4Si MX PS. This could possibly cause problems in
  26. Windows-based applications such as Word for Windows, Excel for
  27. Windows, and WordPerfect for Windows, which allow for different tray
  28. selections. Make sure the Lower Tray is always selected.

  30. Microsoft has confirmed this to be a problem in Windows NT version 3.1
  31. and Windows NT Advanced Server version 3.1. We are researching this
  32. problem and will post new information here in the Microsoft Knowledge
  33. Base as it becomes available.
