  15. Windows NT provides a COMMAND.COM file that must be used for
  16. MS-DOS-based and Windows 3.0 or 3.1-based applications to run
  17. properly. If the COMMAND.COM file that Windows NT provides is replaced
  18. with a version from MS-DOS, an error message occurs just after a
  19. successful logon.

  24. If the COMMAND.COM file provided with Windows NT is replaced with a
  25. COMMAND.COM file from MS-DOS version 3.3, 4.01, or 6.0, the following
  26. error message appears:

  28.    wowexec
  29.    config.nt. The system file is not suitable for running
  30.    DOS and WINDOWS applications. Choose 'Close' to terminate the
  31.    application.

  33. If the COMMAND.COM file provided with Windows NT is replaced with a
  34. COMMAND.COM file from MS-DOS version 5.0, the following error message
  35. appears:
  36.  
  37.    wowexec
  38.    An application has attempted to directly access the
  39.    hard disk, which cannot be supported. This may cause the
  40.    application to function incorrectly. Choose 'Close' to
  41.    terminate the application.
  42.  
  43. If one of the above error messages appears, make sure that the
  44. COMMAND.COM file provided with Windows NT is located in the
  45. WINNT\SYSTEM32 subdirectory. The correct COMMAND.COM file should have
  46. the following size/date:
