  15. When you attempt to add counters to the chart in Performance Monitor,
  16. if the list of objects and counters are incomplete or blank, check the
  17. following key in the Windows NT Registry:
  18.  
  19.    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\WindowsNT\CurrentVersion\Perflib
  20.  
  21. If there are multiple subkeys under the Perflib subkey, deleting all
  22. subkeys except the 009 subkey or merging the contents of the other
  23. subkeys with the 009 subkey should solve the problem.

  28. The Performance Monitor object and counter names are stored in the
  29. "Counters" string under:
  30.  
  31.    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\WindowsNT\CurrentVersion\Perflib
  32.    \<LangID> (LangID 009 = U.S. English)
  33.  
  34. If the list of objects and counters available to chart in Performance
  35. Monitor is incomplete or blank, it may be because Perflib subkeys
  36. other than the 009 subkey exist. Performance Monitor only uses the
  37. contents of one <LangID> subkey. Additional subkeys under the Perflib
  38. subkey could be the result of installing Windows NT over a beta
  39. version of Windows NT or by installing an earlier beta version of SQL
  40. Server for Windows NT.

  42. To restore the default list of counters and objects in Performance
  43. Monitor, you can either:
  44.  
  45.  - Delete all <LangID> subkeys except the 009 subkey.
  46.  
  47.    CAUTION: Modifying the Registry can harm your system. For details
  48.    on this, query on the following words in the Microsoft Knowledge
  49.    Base: 
  50.  
  51.       keyreg and warning and ntadsrv
  52.  
  53.    NOTE: As a precaution, it is advisable to save the Perflib subkey
  54.    before deleting any of the <LangID> subkeys.
  55.  
  56.    -or-
  57.  
  58.  - Attempt to merge the contents of all <LangID> subkeys into the 009
  59.    subkey. This can be done by copying the contents of the "Counters"
  60.    and "Help" strings and pasting them to the end of the "Counters"
  61.    and "Help" strings under the 009 subkey.
