  18. If you attempt to install the Compaq Business Audio utilities in
  19. Windows NT, the setup program will state that the sound hardware
  20. cannot be found. This occurs even though the Business Audio sound
  21. driver is listed as being installed in Control Panel under Drivers and
  22. is operating correctly.
  23.  
  24. CAUSE
  25. =====
  26.  
  27. The utilities that ship with the Windows 3.x-based Compaq Business
  28. Audio system require a Windows 3.x Virtual Device Driver (VxD) to
  29. communicate with the Business Audio card. Because VxD's are not
  30. compatible with Windows NT, the setup program for the utilities is not
  31. able to confirm that the Business Audio card is installed and
  32. therefore the utilities are not installed.

  34. Installation of the Business Audio driver that ships with Windows NT
  35. 3.1 will allow use of the card, but the Window 3.1-based utilities
  36. that ship with the card will not run under Windows NT.

  38. The Compaq Business Audio utilities are manufactured by Compaq, a vendor
  39. independent of Microsoft; we make no warranty, implied or otherwise,
  40. regarding these products' performance or reliability.
