  2.               **** Considerations for Optimum Results ****

  4.           We want you to get the very best digitized picture from your
  5.      photograph. By reading this file you will know which photographs
  6.      will deliver the best digitized images.  For businesses we also
  7.      can digitize your logo.  Or if you have hardware or software
  8.      packages you'd like digitized then simply send them to us.  You
  9.      may be interested in the StoryBoard format.  We do that also.

  11.           We will digitize any slide or print any size. The photos can be  
  12.      facial, landscape, dog, house, girlfriend, spouse, jewelry, baby, etc.
  13.  
  14.          There are basic facts you should consider when selecting photo-
  15.      graphs for digitizing.  VGA images offer more colors and more realism.
  16.      EGA type images offer 16 colors but higher resolution.  We can
  17.      digitized in the EGA 16 out of 64 at a resolution of 640 X 350 or 640
  18.      X 480 X 16.  Or if you have the ability we recommend VGA at 320 X 200
  19.      X 256.  If you're interested in business graphics you might wish to
  20.      consider one of the EGA formats for higher resolution... or you may
  21.      wish to choose both.  Also, we can digitize into higher VGA formats
  22.      but you need to call us first for information.  Call the digitizer at
  23.      503-777-3595.  All high res orders will also have to accompany the
  24.      ORDER FORM.

  26.                               ASPECT RATIO

  28.           Photographs that are wider than they are long fit better into
  29.      the 4:3 t.v screen aspect ratio.  If you want us to fit a portrait
  30.      (vertical picture) into the 4:3 format (wider than it is long) the
  31.      finished product would have black borders.

  33.          To compensate for this, our standard procedure is to "zoom"
  34.      into the print or slide to fill the screen. This is usually more
  35.      pleasing since many pictures that are longer than wide are por-
  36.      trait photographs. In these cases we will assume you are more
  37.      interested in the face(s) and will compensate (move into the face
  38.      or main subject of the photo). However, if you prefer the entire
  39.      length of the photo in the digitized picture you should make this
  40.      clear in your order.

  42.                                 EXPOSURE
  43.  
  44.           Well exposed slides and prints look better when digitized.
  45.      Slides and prints should be properly exposed, be sharp and clear sub-
  46.      jects.  Photos with different colors look more pleasing. Faces are
  47.      especially important when digitized. Try to chose photographs that
  48.      have well lighted faces (but are not overexposed).  If you plan to
  49.      get involved with the original photography then we'd suggest that
  50.      you use lots of light, fill in the deep shadows.  Use lots of colors
  51.      but light them well.  Don't use fluorescent light as it's not strong
  52.      enough and it casts a green tone to your slides and prints.  A lot
  53.      of light will enable to you to use a higher F stop on your camera
  54.      and get a sharper image.  With higher F stops you'll get more depth
  55.      of field (deeper focus).   Any also make sure you focus well.

  57.         We don't wish to scare you away.  We can digitize any image.
  58.      It's just that a few hints will really help your photo look much
  59.      better.  Your family snap shot should digitize well.  Send it in
  60.      and give it a try.  Load the display program into your autoexec.bat
  61.      file and tell it to display the photo you had us digitize then
  62.      surprise whomever turns on the computer.

  65.                             PHOTOGRAPH FORMAT

  68.      Prints:  Any size photograph between 2x4 inches to 24X36 inches,
  69.               color or Black and White.  Smaller photographs are more
  70.               difficult to digitized because of their small size we may
  71.               not be able to fill the entire screen.   Any type surface
  72.               is fine, including glossy and matt.  However, glossy surfaces
  73.               give  a little higher contrast and usually more detail.  We
  74.               can remove some blemishes and wrinkles on photos and/or slides
  75.               if you like.

  77.      Slides:  35mm or larger only, color or b&w.  Smaller
  78.               slides cannot be digitized easily.

  80.                  So, in general, the best digitized images come from the
  81.               best slides, prints, or graphs.

  83.                  Your next step then is to fill our the ORDER FORM and
  84.               send it in to us.  Then, in hardly no time at all, you'll
  85.               receive your first wonderful digitized images!
