  4.           GIF is a universal viewing format developed by the people at
  5.      Compuserve Information Service. Originally designed to be used for
  6.      on-line viewing of graphics, GIF is rapidly becoming a standard
  7.      graphics format for all types of personal computer systems.  With
  8.      GIF, most any personal computer system can view color and B&W
  9.      graphics made on a many different types of micro computer systems.

  11.           GIF's resolution capabilities are more than adequate for cur-
  12.      rent and future micro PCs. GIF can define graphics files of over
  13.      16,000 x 16,000 dots whereas the average micro now in use uses a
  14.      screen resolution of 320 x 200 dots.

  16.           GIF's color capabilities are just as good as its resolution
  17.      capabilities.  GIF allows for 256 colors per image, chosen from a
  18.      palette of 16 million possible colors.

  20.           GIF viewing and conversion programs are available for a wide
  21.      variety of micro computer systems.  The majority of these programs
  22.      were developed for Compuserve and are in the Public Domain.
