- MAIN MENU HELP

- Select the desired option using the
- cursor keys and press ENTER. Optionally,
- you may "click" the left mouse button on
- the desired option.

- The first letter of each option works as
- a "hot-key". You may also invoke an
- option simple by pressing its correspond-
- ing hotkey.

- PACKET SELECTION HELP

- To select a packet to open for reading, simply use the cursor keys
- to highlight the desired packet and then press ENTER. Optionally,
- you may "click" on the desired packet with the left mouse button.

- Paging through a large file list is possible by pressing PAGE UP and
- PAGE DOWN. Also, the arrow keys will cause the display to scroll
- up/down as necessary.
-
- Pressing ESCAPE will exit MR/2 and return you to the OS/2 command
- line. Use ALT-E to enter message w/o an existing packet.
-
- Also, ALT-C will take you into your editor for modifications of the
- MR2.INI file. ALT-P edits the Packet Path. Alt-N relists packets.
-
- While any packet is highlighted, you may use ALT-D to delete the
- marked packet (after confirmation) or ALT-R to rename it.
-
- ALT-V will toggle through the available video display sizes.

- FILE DISPLAY HELP

- To move about the file currently displayed, use any of
- the following keys:

- PAGE DOWN To move forward one screen.
- PAGE UP To move backward one screen.
- DOWN ARROW To scroll down one line.
- UP ARROW To scroll up one line.
- RIGHT ARROW To scroll the view right.
- LEFT ARROW To scroll the view left.
- HOME To jump to the beginning.
- END To display the end.
- spacebar Page forward - exit if at end.
- ESCAPE Exit the current display.
- E To view the file w/your editor*

- EDIT MESSAGE HEADER HELP

- Edit the message header so that the To, Subject, Conference, Privacy
- and tagline are as you desire. When all data is correct, press F10
- to "accept" or "save" the information, press ESCAPE to cancel the
- message.

- For replies, the F2 key can be used to toggle the TO file between
- the original message's sender and receiver. The default is to
- address the message to the original sender. You can see the message
- header you are replying to at the top of the screen (if you are
- replying).

- The following keys are available while reading messages:

- ENTER/+ Move forward one message P - Print to "prn" device
- G/- Move backward one message O - Shell a command line
- S Print the message to a file Z - Skip to next "unread"
- F Find text within the conference Q - Thread Selection menu
- I Select individual messages by header information
- K Kill the current reply (reply conference ONLY)
- R Reply to the current message/modify a reply
- N/L Find NEXT/PREVIOUS match for current text search
- X Exit MR/2 fast - without cleanup, on confirmation
- H/B Move forward/backward inside thread
- T Steal the current message's tagline

- CONFERENCE SELECTION HELP

- To select a conference for reading, simply
- use the cursor keys to highlight the desired
- conference and then press ENTER. Optionally,
- you may "click" on the desired conference with
- the left mouse button.

- Paging through a large conference list is
- possible by pressing PAGE UP and PAGE DOWN.
- Also, the arrow keys will cause the display to
- scroll up/down as necessary.

- You may search for text in ALL conferences from
- here. Press ALT-F for the search form.

- Pressing ESCAPE will exit conference selection
- and return you to the Packet's main menu.

- The number of messages in each conference is
- displayed next to the conference name.

- SEARCH CRITERIA ENTRY

- To search for a text string, simply enter the text
- to match and press ENTER.

- The search is case insensitive; it will find the
- specified text ignoring any any differences in the
- case of individual characters.

- When a message is found that contains the specified
- text, it will be displayed with the first matching
- line displayed on the second line of the display.

- To select a message for reading, simply use
- the cursor keys to highlight the desired
- message and then press ENTER. Optionally,
- you may "click" on the desired message with

- If you wish to exit MR/2 at this time.
- press ENTER. This will bypass all
- MR/2's cleanup functions and return to
- the current packet at a later time.

- If you do not wish to exit at this
- time, press ESCAPE. You will be
- returned to view the more messages.

- If you exit now, next time you invoke
- MR/2, you will be informed of the
- existence of a "previous" package and
- asked if you would like to continue
- here. Answer YES (use the ENTER key)
- to read the packet, NO (use ESCAPE) to
- exit.

- PREVIOUS REPLIES EXIST HELP

- MR/2 has found that the packet directory
- contains replies from a previously session.
- These could be legitimate replies from an
- unfinished packet, or they may have already
- been uploaded.

- If you would like to keep the existing
- replies - simply press ENTER.
-
- If you would like to remove all previous
- replies - press ESCAPE and MR/2 will
- proceed with a fresh, empty reply file.
- [PREVPACK]
- PREVIOUS PACKET EXISTS HELP

- MR/2 has found that the work directory
- contains remnants of a previously opened
- packet. This could have resulted from
- a previous "Fast Exit", or even a system
- error.
-
- If you would like to investigate the
- existing packet files - simply press
- ENTER.
-
- If you would like to remove the previous
- packet's messages - press ESCAPE and
- MR/2 will allow you to select a new
- packet for reading.

- BULLETIN SELECTION HELP

- To select a bulletin for reading, simply use
- the cursor keys to highlight the desired
- bulletin and then press ENTER. Optionally,
- you may "click" on the desired bulletin with
- the left mouse button.

- Paging through a large bulletin list is
- possible by pressing PAGE UP and PAGE DOWN.
- Also, the arrow keys will cause the display to
- scroll up/down as necessary.

- Pressing ESCAPE will exit bulletin selection
- and return you to the packet's main menu.

- as KILLED. This will prevent
- it from being sent to the

- TAG STEALING AND EDITING

- MR/2 has selected a line from the current message as the
- most likely "tagline". This line is displayed for your
- editing before being appended to the tagline file. Make
- any necessary or desired changes and press ENTER to save
- the new tag. Press CANCEL to abort the stealing process.
-
- If the tagline MR/2 has chosen is not the line desired,
- you may use the UP/DOWN arrow keys to scroll through
- the lines of the message. Once the desired line is
- displayed, make any desired changes and press ENTER to
- save it.
- [JUMPLAST]
- JUMPING TO YOUR LAST READ MESSAGE

- This option takes advantage of the "bookmark" feature of
- MR/2. Your last position in the packet is remembered and
- saved as extended attributes when you exit. You now have
- the option of jumping directly to this position.

- If you wish not to be "jumped" to this message, press
- ESCAPE and the normal main menu will be displayed.
-
- If you do wish for MR/2 to place you at your last known
- position, press ENTER.

- SEARCH CRITERIA ENTRY

- Fill in a text string to use in the search. This string may
- contain spaces and the search is case-insensitive (e.g., "CAT"
- find "cat").
-
- To search for more than one string at a time, separate the
- search strings with a backslash "\".
-
- Soundex searching is requested by proceeding a search string
- with an apersand "&". The soundexing algorithm is very "loose",
- so soundexing should be used only on longer words (not OS/2, but
- Windows will work nicely).
-
- Example: CTOS\&windows\OS/2
-
- will find all messages containing either the text "CTOS", "OS/2"
- or anything that "sounds like" windows (i.e., windoze will match).

- NO PACKET - BBS NAME SELECTION

- Select from the displayed BBS names to enter a message
- when no packet currently exists. The BBS's listed are
- all those from which MR/2 has been used to read QWK
- packets. When a packet is opened, MR/2 copies the
- control data for the source BBS to a BBS.cfg file in
- the MR/2 home directory.

- TAG LINE SELECTION

- All currently available taglines are displayed for your
- selection. Use the "page" keys to move through the
- file a screen at a time, or the arrow keys to scroll.

- Highlight the desired tagline and press ENTER to select
- it. To cancel the tagline selection, simply press ESCAPE.

- SAVE FILE NAME

- Enter the name of the file to append the currently
- displayed message to. For a list of existing save files,
- press F2.

- Select the name of the file to append the current message
- to. You may used the "page" keys to page through this list,
- or the cursor keys to scroll through it. Press ENTER to
- select any name.

- Press CANCEL to exit this screen without selecting a name.
