  2.             MAIN MENU HELP
  3.  
  4. Select the desired option using the
  5. cursor keys and press ENTER.  Optionally,
  6. you may "click" the left mouse button on
  7. the desired option.
  8.  
  9. The first letter of each option works as
  10. a "hot-key".  You may also invoke an
  11. option simple by pressing its correspond-
  12. ing hotkey.

  14.                      PACKET SELECTION HELP
  15.  
  16. To select a packet to open for reading, simply use the cursor keys
  17. to highlight the desired packet and then press ENTER.  Optionally,
  18. you may "click" on the desired packet with the left mouse button.
  19.  
  20. Paging through a large file list is possible by pressing PAGE UP and
  21. PAGE DOWN.  Also, the arrow keys will cause the display to scroll
  22. up/down as necessary.

  24. Pressing ESCAPE will exit MR/2 and return you to the OS/2 command
  25. line.  Use ALT-E to enter message w/o an existing packet.
  26.  
  27. Also, ALT-C will take you into your editor for modifications of the
  28. MR2.INI file.  ALT-P edits the Packet Path.  Alt-N relists packets.
  29.  
  30. While any packet is highlighted, you may use ALT-D to delete the
  31. marked packet (after confirmation) or ALT-R to rename it.
  32.  
  33. ALT-V will toggle through the available video display sizes.

  36.  
  37. To move about the file currently displayed, use any of
  38. the following keys:
  39.  
  40.     PAGE DOWN       To move forward one screen.
  41.     PAGE UP         To move backward one screen.
  42.     DOWN ARROW      To scroll down one line.
  43.     UP ARROW        To scroll up one line.
  44.     RIGHT ARROW     To scroll the view right.
  45.     LEFT ARROW      To scroll the view left.
  46.     HOME            To jump to the beginning.
  47.     END             To display the end.
  48.     spacebar        Page forward - exit if at end.
  49.     ESCAPE          Exit the current display.

  52.                    EDIT MESSAGE HEADER HELP
  53.  
  54. Edit the message header so that the To, Subject, Conference, Privacy
  55. and tagline are as you desire.  When all data is correct, press F10
  56. to "accept" or "save" the information, press ESCAPE to cancel the
  57. message.
  58.  
  59. For replies, the F2 key can be used to toggle the TO file between
  60. the original message's sender and receiver.  The default is to
  61. address the message to the original sender.  You can see the message
  62. header you are replying to at the top of the screen (if you are
  63. replying).

  67.  The following keys are available while reading messages:

  89.           CONFERENCE SELECTION HELP

  91. To select a conference for reading, simply
  92. use the cursor keys to highlight the desired
  93. conference and then press ENTER.  Optionally,
  94. you may "click" on the desired conference with
  95. the left mouse button.

  97. Paging through a large conference list is
  98. possible by pressing PAGE UP and PAGE DOWN.
  99. Also, the arrow keys will cause the display to
  100. scroll up/down as necessary.

  102. You may search for text in ALL conferences from
  103. here.  Press ALT-F for the search form.

  105. Pressing ESCAPE will exit conference selection
  106. and return you to the Packet's main menu.

  108. The number of messages in each conference is
  109. displayed next to the conference name.

  111.              SEARCH CRITERIA ENTRY
  112.  
  113. To search for a text string, simply enter the text
  114. to match and press ENTER.
  115.  
  116. The search is case insensitive; it will find the
  117. specified text ignoring any any differences in the
  118. case of individual characters.
  119.  
  120. When a message is found that contains the specified
  121. text, it will be displayed with the first matching
  122. line displayed on the second line of the display.

  124.           MESSAGE SELECTION HELP
  125.  
  126. To select a message for reading, simply use
  127. the cursor keys to highlight the desired
  128. message and then press ENTER.  Optionally,
  129. you may "click" on the desired message with
  130. the left mouse button.

  143. If you wish to exit MR/2 at this time.
  144. press ENTER.  This will bypass all
  145. MR/2's cleanup functions and return to
  146. the current packet at a later time.

  148. If you do not wish to exit at this
  149. time, press ESCAPE.  You will be
  150. returned to view the more messages.
  151.  
  152. If you exit now, next time you invoke
  153. MR/2, you will be informed of the
  154. existence of a "previous" package and
  155. asked if you would like to continue
  156. here.  Answer YES (use the ENTER key)
  157. to read the packet, NO (use ESCAPE) to
  158. exit.

  160.        PREVIOUS REPLIES EXIST HELP
  161.  
  162. MR/2 has found that the packet directory
  163. contains replies from a previously session.
  164. These could be legitimate replies from an
  165. unfinished packet, or they may have already
  166. been uploaded.
  167.  
  168. If you would like to keep the existing
  169. replies - simply press ENTER.
  170.  
  171. If you would like to remove all previous
  172. replies  -  press ESCAPE and MR/2 will
  173. proceed with a fresh, empty reply file.
  174. [PREVPACK]
  175.       PREVIOUS PACKET EXISTS HELP
  176.  
  177. MR/2 has found that the work directory
  178. contains remnants of a previously opened
  179. packet.  This could have resulted from
  180. a previous "Fast Exit", or even a system
  181. error.

  183. If you would like to investigate the
  184. existing packet files - simply press
  185. ENTER.
  186.  
  187. If you would like to remove the previous
  188. packet's messages  -  press ESCAPE and
  189. MR/2  will allow you to select a new
  190. packet for reading.

  192.            BULLETIN SELECTION HELP
  193.  
  194. To select a bulletin for reading, simply use
  195. the cursor keys to highlight the desired
  196. bulletin and then press ENTER.  Optionally,
  197. you may "click" on the desired bulletin with
  198. the left mouse button.

  200. Paging through a large bulletin list is
  201. possible by pressing PAGE UP and PAGE DOWN.
  202. Also, the arrow keys will cause the display to
  203. scroll up/down as necessary.

  205. Pressing ESCAPE will exit bulletin selection
  206. and return you to the packet's main menu.

  211. as KILLED.  This will prevent
  212. it from being sent to the
  213. target mail door.

  248.               TAG STEALING AND EDITING

  250. MR/2 has selected a line from the current message as the
  251. most likely "tagline".  This line is displayed for your
  252. editing before being appended to the tagline file.  Make
  253. any necessary or desired changes and press ENTER to save
  254. the new tag.  Press CANCEL to abort the stealing process.
  255.  
  256. If the tagline MR/2 has chosen is not the line desired,
  257. you may use the UP/DOWN arrow keys to scroll through
  258. the lines of the message.  Once the desired line is
  259. displayed, make any desired changes and press ENTER to
  260. save it.
  261. [JUMPLAST]
  262.             JUMPING TO YOUR LAST READ MESSAGE
  263.  
  264. This option takes advantage of the "bookmark" feature of
  265. MR/2.  Your last position in the packet is remembered and
  266. saved as extended attributes when you exit.  You now have
  267. the option of jumping directly to this position.
  268.  
  269. If you wish not to be "jumped" to this message, press
  270. ESCAPE and the normal main menu will be displayed.
  271.  
  272. If you do wish for MR/2 to place you at your last known
  273. position, press ENTER.

  285. Fill in a text string to use in the search.  This string may
  286. contain spaces and the search is case-insensitive (e.g., "CAT"
  287. find "cat").

  289. To search for more than one string at a time, separate the
  290. search strings with a backslash "\".
  291.  
  292. Soundex searching is requested by proceeding a search string
  293. with an apersand "&".  The soundexing algorithm is very "loose",
  294. so soundexing should be used only on longer words (not OS/2, but
  295. Windows will work nicely).

  297. Example:   CTOS\&windows\OS/2
  298.  
  299. will find all messages containing either the text "CTOS", "OS/2"
  300. or anything that "sounds like" windows (i.e., windoze will match).

  302.           NO PACKET - BBS NAME SELECTION

  304. Select from the displayed BBS names to enter a message
  305. when no packet currently exists.  The BBS's listed are
  306. all those from which MR/2 has been used to read QWK
  307. packets.  When a packet is opened, MR/2 copies the
  308. control data for the source BBS to a BBS.cfg file in
  309. the MR/2 home directory.
  310. [PICKTAG]
  311.                   TAG LINE SELECTION
  312.  
  313. All currently available taglines are displayed for your
  314. selection.  Use the "page" keys to move through the
  315. file a screen at a time, or the arrow keys to scroll.
  316.  
  317. Highlight the desired tagline and press ENTER to select
  318. it.  To cancel the tagline selection, simply press ESCAPE.
  319. [FILLSAVE]
  320.                    SAVE FILE NAME
  321.  
  322. Enter the name of the file to append the currently
  323. displayed message to.  For a list of existing save files,
  324. press F2.
  325. [SAVESEL]
  326. Select the name of the file to append the current message
  327. to.  You may used the "page" keys to page through this list,
  328. or the cursor keys to scroll through it.  Press ENTER to
  329. select any name.
  330.  
  331. Press CANCEL to exit this screen without selecting a name.
